i can't set the speaker size because i don't have the remote but i don't think it is set to small and at -20 there's no problems just at -5 and no meter i just see the receiver says -5dB

err, you need to set them to small...see if there is a way to do so from front panel. what do you mean you don't have the remote?

the remote was lost like many others lol.. and i'm reading the manual but it only gives instructions for with the remote no front panel

I've been looking for awhile now

get a harmony then. or one of those cheap universal remotes might work with your receiver.

at that price point, I would just get one of the entry level harmony ones.

universal remote does not let me go to the setup menu so i gonna have to get the original remote which really sucks ?

sent back the harmony remote and ordered a OEM Yamaha HTR-5940 remote. when it gets here i'll post if it fixed my problem. but i been running it in 2.1CHs for the last few days ?

ok tried that and it still happens also saw crossover set to 80Hz is that important ?

you have all the speakers set to small and it is still going into protect? What is the volume you are listening at?

did you set the impedance? I saw it in the pdf, basic setup section

Do you have a sub?

it is loud but shuts off after a loud movie scene ? is there any thing i could change

lower the volume  In essence you are exceeding the receiver's output capacity. I am assuming your speakers are set to small and correct impedance. also, what gauge is the wire and how long?

I don't remember what you ended up doing with the wires.
