Bass should be good for your goals.

He said not too hoppy. I suggest something like Mothership Whit from New Belgium. It's a wonderful, light and tasty belgian style wheat beer. Big hit with the ladies :)

Sleemans Honey Brown is another nice choice if you can find it.

 Mothership Wit rules.

This, but at 25 people I would seriously consider a keg.

Depending on how long you plan on the party going if you're going to be getting drunk then it's going to be 5-8+ beers per person leaning towards the 8+ if the party goes for more than 4 hours... even cheap domestic beer is going to be $15 for a 24 pack...

You're talking about 150+ beers and $100-$150 if you get more expensive beer... a keg is going to run you about $60-$100 once you get your deposit back and will be about as many beers.

Nobody is going to complain if you get a decent domestic light (If they do, fuck them, free beer is not something a person is allowed to complain about.) and if they want something more exquisite they can bring it.

You don't have to get domestic to get a keg. They have good beer too. You just have to ask the local distributors what they have available.

Very true. I got a keg from a local brewery for my birthday party once, and it was awesome. Only cost about 90 bucks.

With three days notice, most distributors can get you a keg of almost anything of the larger breweries. With a week's notice, they should be able to get most anything that's available to the region.

I'm aware, but as the quality of beer goes up the price goes up. There's a huge party store near me where most domestic lights are $78... something like Killians is about $95... Guinness is about $180 or so. I merely say it because at that point you may be better off getting a variety of bottles.

Meh, you're looking for a light lager, just be done with it and get Pabst Blue Ribbon. It's good shit, and it's cheap.

And since this is a "very formal" party, PBR might be a good choice. Etiquette demands at least PBR when the dress code is black tie.

If it's white tie, you may need to move up to Coors Light.

:p

On a serious note, OP, I'd go with a variety. Lots of decent suggestions already in the thread.

I only see women 30+ drink this????

That's true. But I think its mostly because its hard to find and a bit more expensive then bud light. Its far superior to bud light taste wise, IMO. If I'm going to drink domestic, I prefer michelob to bud

Sweetwater Blue. Has a nice blueberry aftertaste to it.
Woodchuck is another good one. Most ladies will like it.
Also Red Bridge. Should be fairly easy to find and has a nice sweet taste.
I'll also second the Blue Moon recommendation others have made.

I was just thinking that. And some Lord Chesterfield for those who prefer ale. But it isn't available in the West. OP is in Nebraska, not sure if it will be available there.

The Samuel Adams Winter mix is a good idea. I was sampling those last night. I'd never had their Cranberry Lambic - it was good.
