she's made a shitload on itunes.

What constitutes a "shitload"?

Even if she made a decent amount of money for this song, I have a feeling she isn't set for life. It isnt like she is going to have some on-going career as an "artist" because of this.

Last I heard she had around 60,000 downloads? At $1.00 a song, minus Apples cut, that isn't even close to "set up for life" or a "shitload".

Does she have a record label?

How much does an artist keep from an itunes purchase?

A. "10 cents."

This sobering Q & A comes from the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) iTunes Artist-Producer Royalty Calculation sheet.

More: "For major label artists, Apple collects 34 cents and the label keeps 55 cents."
********

Thus 60,000 x $1 x .10= 288

🙂

Otherwise:

$0.70

If you submit the track to iTunes yourself, you make $0.70 and apple
keeps the rest. But you have to be a registered distributor.

Thus, 60,000 x $1 x .7 = 2

While it's nowhere near "set for life", or even over a year for some, it's definitely a shitload of money given her age and how truly awful the song is.

And that's just Apple. I'm sure she has another "small" chunk from Amazon too. She described a day of the week and somebody autotuned the piss out of it. That's all. Now she can pay cash for a very nice car if she wanted. I would call that a shitload.

Also, I can't believe we're trying to define shitload. Where is it in relation to fuckton? Or shitzillion? Or "gobs of"? Is it a weight? Volume? If it's weight or volume what denomination do we use? $20 bills are standard... but $60,000 in pennies would probably be multiple fucktons compared to paper money. DETAILS PEOPLE!

So Lady Gaga writing all her own music and singing it all herself is not an artist??? I didn't know someone had to play an instrument to be considered an artist.

An artist is someone who creates a beautiful object for others to enjoy and appreciate, Lady Gaga is more like a sideshow freak, you will pay to stare, but she not an artist.

she has full ownership.
she effectively bought her song and the video, that arc music company is a rent a musician team type dealie, they don't front money to "invest" in artists.

but it is correct, the amount she earned is probably way overstated.

What in the hell? I just heard about this video last night. What is the meaning of this monstrosity? When I first saw it I thought something hilarious was going to happen but then slowly realized it was actually serious...
