nope. country is not the same as it was ok maybe 30 yrs ago. 20 maybe cutting it close.
there is not as much "twang" or as such lyrics as "tear in my beer". its more like (80's) rock and pop. the lines between country and others have blurred.
you take music from someone like hank williams, conway twitty etc and compare it to say toby keith, or rascal flats.

It's current #9, thanks to Kanye it might reach #2, the sales difference between an album that's #2 and one that's #9 is going to be in the tens of thousands. Without Kanye her album might have went up to #6 or so. I doubt she can knock Whitney out of the #1 spot though.

I just talked to somebody who doesn't even like Taylor but hates Kanye so much he will be buying her album tomorrow in hopes she goes #1 and it pisses off Kanye. And then you have the people who will buy her album who normally wouldn't to see whatshe sounds like. I honestly have never heard one of her songs. I might buy one off iTunes just because. This is PUBLICITY, because of Kanye people who have no idea who she is will know her now. With no blowup, nobody talks about her winning an award. Thanks to Kanye it's a huge topic. She will sell a ton of records thanks to him.

Umm its been out for near a year. Whitney just released hers. #2-7 are all recent albums. I never heard any of her song but I don't think there are many albums today that stay @ number 1 for nearly 1 year.

Yes, and I understand this week it will be higher on the charts again then it would be otherwise thanks to Kanye. He's a douche but Taylor will make more money from this. Her speech getting interrupted will result in a ton of cash in her pocket from the extended sales. I don't care if her album has sold 20 million copies. She has a chance to hit #1 again, which is rare for an album that's been on the charts that long. This is free publicity, hell her label couldn't have paid for anything this big.
I'm pretty sure Taylor Swift has already sold more albums than Kanye West - there was just a thing in the news that Taylor Swift has crossed 10 million total records - I don't think Kanye West is there yet.
