RANT - I got my Bush tax cut and a pay cut.

My boss called me in the morning. He said that my check this pay period is going to be larger because of the Bush tax cuts, but that next pay period, he would only be paying 75% of my health insurance, instead of 100% - so the tax benefit should effectively disappear. He said that it should be ok with everyone because the money wasn't really mine before anyway, so I should not miss it.

If anyone is looking to hire an attorney in Texas, my resume is ready.

Tell your boss that next week you're only going to come in for 75% of your regular hours.

That type of attitude really pisses me off. He probably voted for Lee P "out of town" Brown, didn't he?

And your boss shouldn't care, because your choice to work wasn't his to begin with

Seriously. WTF is up with suddenly making you responsible for 25% of your health insurance? That's potentially a lot of money.

Are you kidding me? I have to pay 100% of my health insurance. I would give anything to get my compant to pay 75%.

Except for the fact that that is part of my compensation. I'm sorry that you are not compensated similarly.

I guess it all depends on your contract. If he can make changes like that on the fly... ok. But if you got a contract that states your rights and responsibilities I figure you would have to agree to a change in status?!

Oh... and you should ask if the Tax goes back up (since it is only a temporary tax cut for a couple years) if your salary goes back up then too?!

Yes. I actually chase ambulances.

one of those guys sent my father a letter (i think it was the firm of the actual "tough smart lawyer") trying to name him in a suit for a car accident, when he'd sold that car 6 years earlier.

The money wasn't the companies before, it was YOUR money the government was requiring YOU to pay, which is why they refund it to YOU if you pay too much. That's complete bullshit.

Now that your paychecks are larger, he thinks you can afford to pay 25% of your insurance, and not notice a difference in your take home.

Would you expect any less from an ambulance chasing company? You fault them for being greedy? Surprised you didn't know this already.
