The bottom line is:
I have NEVER met a Windows user that refused to touch a mac...in fact, i've never met a windows user that couldn't like anything about mac. Windows users are quick to recognize the downsides of windows.
However, 90% of all of the apple users i've met have no objective reasoning when it comes to mac vs pc, or iphone vs smartphone. They often talk shit about windows, act stuck up and better than others, and that frame of mind that we've seen so many apple user get closes you off communications-wise with pc users. It also affects you in another way: when you get so childishly and unhealthily obsessed, and continue to speak of apple as if it's perfect, it blinds you from reality.
"If you say something over and over and over again, eventually you'll start to believe it."
I'm buying a macbook pro in a few weeks. Ill be able to objectively, and reasonably say which one is better. I know what windows can do, i've been reading on OSX for months, so i know what it can do, and i have to say...im not impressed. Something is inherently geeky about windows.
For school work (i'm buying it for med-school), i like what it does...but as far as getting my geek fix goes...windows is on another level.
Mac vs. PC
For the most part, i agree with someone on the first page of comments. He said an OS is an OS. Some user have seem to forgot...Apples uses the same hardware as windows pc's for most parts. In general, non-geeks who buy macs are the same type of people who would buy a sony 4 megapixel camera that uses 4 double a batteries, and has non-upgradeable 256mb of ram, over a 12 megapixel canon camera with 15 different modes, 4gb of storage, and a hundred features. The sony may take really good pictures for a 4 megapixel camera, but its still only 4 megapixels. And that camera will only be great until i take it to a sporting event and realize it blows.
(THIS WAS AN EXAGGERATION TO GET MY POINT ACROSS)
The point is: Windows has something...and then some, for everyone including me. If you get offended while reading this...then you're effectively immature, and you're beyond any logical discussion.
Thanks:
I would like the thank you slashbinbash. Kudos for speaking up. That by itself is enough for me to seperate you from the macboys. I enjoyed reading your post, and im excited to get my first mac: the core i5 mbp! I applaud you for keeping it real and objective. Post again soon. Good luck.
