BFG, to answer your questions,
You had a Voodoo3 before, did you not?
Yes, I did, and do

I used to have a V3 3K AGP in my primary system, and switched to a Radeon 64. I also still have a V3 2k PCI in one of the kids PCs.
Did GLQuake, Quake 2 and Unreal (not UT) look better on the Radeon when you switched over (ie were these games in fact running under 32 bit colour on your Radeon)?
I don't have GLQuake (never have). Q2 and Unreal look...well...UNREAL!! Sorry, I couldn't resist

Difference is incredible. I have Q2 set up with every conceivable quality tweak possible, and Unreal in D3D also with every setting to max. Looks fantastic.
MUCH better than the V3.
Thanks. How about Unreal (original), GLQuake and Quake 2 screenshots (one of each is enough). With Unreal and Quake 2, try to get a bit of the sky into the shot as well as some of the walls. I want to see if there's any banding.
Like I said before, I don't have GLQuake. I don't have a place to link them to either. My email is in my profile. If you want some shots, let me know what Q2 and Unreal shots you want (map names and specific areas), send me an email and I'll send them to you in a reply.
BTW, speaking of Unreal/UT and the loss of Glide support, I have to say my piece. This was a big concern when I got the Radeon. I've always seen posts on how crappy that @%$%#^# Sweeny's Unreal/T DirectX code is. It sucks. is slow, choppy, blah blah. I was ready for the big D3D disappointment with the Radeon. My God, was I shocked!! UT is a site to see in 32 bit D3D on a Radeon. Not only that, it is smoooooth as butter. It completely blows away my Voodoo 3 in Glide in speed and quality. I don't miss Glide at all. All those guys complaining about UT in D3D must have a different type of card
