Greenman is not a Republican.

He's playing devils advocate.
I don't really care how he votes. My issue is with the argument that maintaining the status quo is a neutral or centrist position. Even the farthest right Republican (of any reasonable intelligence) knows that the question is not that we will change but what we will change into. That's why they're so afraid of 'woke.'

Less-Greenman-specific, one of the biggest problems America is dealing with right now is that something like half (if not more) of the Cold War-era generations (myself included) were taught Millennialism doctrine. And now it's 2023 and He hasn't returned and they might have to die of old age instead. Worse still, instead of an "end times" highly specific as to be "eternal life" for their immediate culture, that America's true future is something terrifyingly grander.
Now that might just be me projecting my Mormon childhood, but I think it's more than that.

They were complaining about woke banks because they saw the word diversity and immediately jumped to their racist instincts and decided that meant that the banks were lending to people of color no matter if they qualified for a loan, instead of the actual meaning when it comes to financial matters.

Can't imagine how they'd react seeing the same thing in "woke" defense contractors like Boeing/Raytheon/NG/GD ... and that stuff has been around in those companies FOREVER.

That is why you should support MyPillow. They help you get a good nights sleep and you can tell people you woke up to a good day.

It's almost as though the dimwit Right made up their issues with words like Antifa and Woke. I tried for about three years since 2017 to find the Antifa web-site so I could contribute and join up. There ain't no Antifa.

I'm 75 and caucasian. Am I woke? You bet I am. Personally, I'd make woke-ness a high-school graduation requirement!

But the DeSantis and other aligned sources against "Woke-ness" are out of their minds, saying that woke-ness is an ideology. I think the definition to which 66% of Americans agree is in the ball-park.

How do you define a MAGA in the GOP? Somebody who's looking for an imaginary reason to insult and offend just about everybody else. No matter what you say, they won't like it.

"Woke" stems from social justice which was promoted during the 1960s, and part of the civil rights movement. When late capitalism kicked it, in turned into political correctness plus reverse racism like affirmative action (see works by Stanley Fish and what law schools taught concerning critical race theory). After that, following John Money et al, it devolved into identity politics, e.g., 50+ genders, claims that "all lives matter" is racist, and normalizing deviant behavior like pedophilia.

@ralfy Please provide examples of the 'woke left' trying to normalize pedophilia. You can't, of course, because they're not. You're simply lying to justify being divisive.
Kinda like how 'political correctness' is just a buzzword to hide anger over it no longer being socially acceptable to be a vicious bigot in the workplace.
Or 'reverse discrimination' is a buzzword for hiding sentiment that everytime a white male doesn't get hired it must have been discrimination cause there's no way a woman or minority could have been more qualified. It's not socially acceptable to actually say that out loud, so you say 'reverse discrimination.'
Similarly, 'all lives matter' and 'blue lives matter' are buzzwords to hide sentiment that black men need to 'comply or die.'
And now it's 'woke,' which is yet another buzzword to bully and silence pro-civil rights speech, because you disagree with speech that says that all Americans are entitled to equal protection of the laws ('socialism!'). Even though that's literally the 14a to the Constitution that conservatives want everyone to believe they hold dear (while they're only ones trying to stage a constitutional convention in order to drastically rewrite it).
You can lie to yourselves, but the rest of us see right through it.

If "woke" means being a decent human being then I'm guilty of being woke. For Republicans it's become a dog whistle for anything that's decent. They'll attach that term to anything, just as they did with the terms BLM and antifa.

Meanwhile Republicans come off as people who consumed lead paint chips as children and have serious mental health issues. Politicians are but one but when you read the average Republican's tweets or other screenshotted material you wonder what is going on with those people in their heads. I don't like to make light of serious mental health issues or people who have deficits because I'm not a dick, but there is something wrong with these people.

I didn't know who he was until I googled him, so I guess I don't understand the reference. Honestly I was just obnoxiously mocking shorty in the comment you quoted (I think he was being a tad pissy that day, lol).

Who gets to define "Woke?" It was primarily employed by Blacks to signify they were aware of news events, incidents and cultural changes that affected the Black Community.

And that’s what Woke means … being culturally and politically curious and knowledgeable about things.

But in recent years, "Woke" has become a slur and is roundly used as a blanket term to describe social justice causes bigots view as threatening to their authority.

Yep, had to take all kinds of required corporate training, which encompassed everything from business ethics, to sexual harassment, to equal opportunity/race relations (although is was more geared towards treating everyone equally) which makes it so you don't get in trouble for singling out people (management training).
