Well, I've been riding our new exercise bike for 40 minutes a day for a bout a week and a half.

On Monday, I'm starting with my stretch/situp/lunges in the morning. I'll put the weight bench back together and probably add that into the routine by the end of the month.

I've got a ton of weight to lose, I figure maybe in a year I should be looking better.

You young kids stay healthy...gah, it's freakin hard to get back into shape the older and fatter you get (27, going on 50--I weigh 260 (!!!) 10 years ago at the same height I was 140).

I lost 80 punds by just cutting my calories in half and playing basketball & doing crunches aerobically. If you want a better description just PM me.

Not true at all. Lifting weights is what will make you get bigger, not just regular crunches. Sure if you held a 45lb weight while doing crunches you might get a little bigger if you were shooting steroids before the workout...lol

not appreciably, there simply isn't the potential to add enough muscle there to have that effect. Bodybuilders have tiny waists despite training their abs to death.

OP should be working his abs, just like all his other muscles. The 4 inches of flab sitting on top is far more of a problem than whatever fractional size he might add via muscle. If anything, working the abs will probably help him subconciously hold his stomach tighter during the day and show less of a paunch.

If you really want to lose an assload of weight, do what somebody else said and get a heavy manual labor job, go dig ditches or work at UPS. It's like doing cardio for hours a day.

I'd agree with that... working construction was great for keeping trim... soo much walking during the day.. I think I dropped about 5 pounds my 10 days when I did it a few years ago...

I'm at the end of week 1 of doing the same (30/40 mins of biking every day), hopefully going to play some tennis once or twice a week to for an hour or so, maybe some swimming too.
I'm at the 10 years ago mark (young kid, 18/140lbs), I'm gonna try not to get up to 260 :p
