weights better than aerobic stuff ? I want to hear more...Originally posted by: smc13
there are two ways to lose weight. It isn't magic. Eat less and/or exercise more. I would argue that an anaerobic workout (lifting weights) is better for buring calories than an aerobic one but both work.

Running is mostly anaerobic in the first few hundred meters. It takes a time for the aerobic pathway to get activated up to speed. As you workout more and more your anaerobic will last longer (more glycogen stores) and your aerobic will kick in faster, so you won't die before you get your second wind. This is also why you don't want to run and then lift weights. You will have depleted your glycogen already, and your muscles will have less to fuel the lifting.

I can tell you this - riding a stationary bike for about 30 minutes for me burns 300+ calories. Does lifting with rests for 30 minutes really burn that much ?

I hear bulimia works wonders.
not appreciably, there simply isn't the potential to add enough muscle there to have that effect. Bodybuilders have tiny waists despite training their abs to death.Originally posted by: ElFenix
it will make the stomach muscles bigger, so, while you wait for the fat on top of them to burn off (in whatever order mother nature intended, so you might lose back fat or butt fat or wherever else first) your stomach will look bigger

The absolute quickest non-surgical method I've found is a dose of 65mg of MDA and 80mg for MDMA and then dancing to industrial techno for hours and hours.
