Questiong re: MWF routines

I've been on a program that is inching closer and closer to SL 5x5 as scripted, and I just do a workout every other day. I read in many places about people who do MWF versions of various workouts.

Just wondering why people take the weekend off? Easier to schedule things during a more static work week, too busy on weekends?

One of the reasons I ask is that a gym closest to me has different rates depending on frequency of visits. MWTH is cheaper than MWF, and anytime/anyday is the most $$. Not a fan of this pricing model.

I start to get antsy if I wait 3 days between workouts.

Given a 7 day week, its impossible to schedule 3 workouts "evenly", there will always be a 2 day rest period. I personally lift MWSa.

It's easiest to get into the gym on a routine. Workweek is constant so it makes it easier.

I dunno, I typically go about 4 days a week and that's determined by other plans and how my body's feeling. I hardly ever go 2 days straight w/o hitting the gym though, even if it's just for cardio and abs.

I suppose that'll all change when I switch to the CF gym in a week and a half. I'm scaaaaaaaared.

How so? I would consider 72 hours between lifting 3 days. Semantics, perhaps.

I am seeing that basing it on a work week is just easier for most to schedule and plan around. I haven't found that, so I guess that begged the question.

Well, at this point you take rest into account. The 7 day week is kinda awkward, but is good in the sense that you can give your body that extra rest that it needs. Working out is only half the equation. You gotta let your body run its course and repair everything you do to it. 4 days off is fine if you're lifting heavy. It's healthy, even.

I remember reading somewhere that you could do SL every other day but most people find its easier to stick to a pattern. Hence the 3 days/week.

My freshman/sophomore year of college I had a an 8-day workout split that had me lifting every other day. It was nice - my body doesn't care that we have an arbitrary 7 day week, and I saw great results - but it takes a lot more planning and effort to keep that going consistently.

Right, I gotcha on needing rest point. I guess I meant it theoretical conditions where you are fully rested the day before, and potentially on a linear progression type program, extrapolating that extra day over time is lost efficiency to some degree?

I'm thinking tho that vacuum is not realistic when you taken into account so many other factors.

I think that's what I'm starting to find out. Between work and family visits, the schedule can get complicated on the weekends.
