please elaborate

Read "Fast Food Nation" for all of your concerns. 'Nuff said. I've been fastfood-free for around a year now (at least beef).

BTW, I haven't read this entire thread. The book may have been brought up at some point. If it has, this is just reinforcement. If it hasn't... well, now it has. Great book that will may make you change your diet.

Give it a break man.
McDonalds been around for 40+ yrs and many considered them to be part of American society.
Do you really think they would advertise 100% beef and secretly substitute crap in the beef ??? GET REAL
Now the lesser fast food might have to resort to that kind of stuff to turn a profit but like I said McDonalds use some of the highest quality ingredients for their food.

Our franchise consists of 19 stores.
We did $3.1 millions on sales in January.
After all that wa said and done, our bottom line NET INCOME was ~$50,000.
Yeah, our NET INCOME was 1.63% of our sales.
Jan is our second slowest month of the year but still.(of course this is a big improvement from last year when we lost $157,000 on $2.6 million in sales.

so that's net income for just the store owner/s right? or does a small percent go to high level managers?

i didn't think that fast food business would be very seasonal. why is that? what's typically your fastest month and how much has ever been made then?

Yeah, its the net income that goes to the OWNERS. This is after the company pays for everything, including the president, vices, accountant, office staff, etc...

The reason why its seasonal is because we are in Orlando.
Busiest month is December. I don't have the income statement for December so I can only guess.
We are also very busy in the summer when the kids are out.

Any question about McDonalds, I cam pretty much answer them for you.

any chance that theyll stop sucking sometime soon, or maybe make something worth eating? all beef or not, its not worth a damn.

Different strokes for different folks.
I just work there, I'm not the chef.
I prefer Wendys food myself.

Whoa....I just found my food cost list and I haven't looked at it for a while.

Big Mac= .54
10 nuggets= .70
20 nuggets= $1.41
Hamburger= .22
4 Select Strips= .70

You can see the strips cost more cause it uses better quality.

...

For McDonalds, the only ingredients that they will charge EXTRA for are cheese, tomatoes, or course bacons....everything else is FREE.

food cost of soda is pennies right?

and some stores charge for extra sauce. is that excluded from ingredients of an item? does sauce cost that much more?

Yeah soda is the money maker for all fast food.
A 21oz drink cost .08 without the refill and we sell it for $1.69 so thats like 8% food cost.

Absolutely, all the condiments in their own packaging are not calculated in the cost of an item.
The nugget sauces are the most frequent condiments people ask for.
Alot of places charge extra for them if you don't order nuggets. These costs .045 cents per cup BTW.

Thanx for remembering.
Actually I already resigned my store manager position.
I'm working at another store(very very busy one) to help out my buddy at the moment(hes the store manager there).
Once hes set, I'm outta there.
I was originally waiting till July to move cause thats when his mother-in-law moves out but shes leaving end of MARCH.
I'll probably be moving way before July......I can't wait.....

My brother bought a house in Sacramento 2 yrs ago for $150K.
Its ok, nothing really special but he just sold it for $240K for a nice $90K profit.
He then bought this HOUSE for $319K and theres a room waiting for me 🙂

i read fast food nation too, its mostly ragging on serving sizes and high fructose corn syrup sweetners. it doesn't claim mcdonalds uses fillers at all. which is why i still eat there.

So, McDonalds really going to drop the SuperSize program and get ride of the large fries and soda, or what's the deal with that?
From what I've heard, the current Large will be the new Super Size, the current Medium will be the Large, and the current McValue size will be the new Medium.

i still remember when they made the old supersize into the large and created an even larger super size. imagine our suprise when we went to mcdonalds and ordered supersizes, after spending a month in europe (june 1999).

So when is the McRib coming back????

the real one not that tiny piece of crap that is %70 its old size that thing rocked!

the Nuggets are different but just as processed definately rather have Chick-Fil-A nuggets! real chicked breaded at the store. And all the nuggets are not the same size.

Is it true McD is gonna nix the Value Size??

McDonalds frys rock but not as much as when they used Lard w/ beef biproducts!! Or the Old Fried Apple and Cherry pies that had the little crispy bubbles. WOW those things were good!

Time to run to Chick-Fil-A for some food!

Two words: Hardee's Thickburger

100% Angus, baby
Tastes amazing for a fast food burger
You'll never want to set foot in a McDonald's again

Well, sometime I go into McDonald's
when I'm on the road
....to use the bathroom

😀

I got a beer at a burger king when i was in munich. Now whenever i eat fast food (not veery often), I think, "Why can't I be having a beer with this?"

IIRC, it runs market by market during certain slow times, like the fall and winter.

Yep.

And amazingly bad for you. 😉
I'd rather them be fried again, just so that they don't have to pull someone from the grill to bake the pies.

That place is good, but insanely expensive.
