question about going to jail or the army

There is a possibility that my friend might be serving a jail sentence, its about a 40% chance. I have been told by a few people that if he is to go to the army instead, then he wont have to serve a jail sentence.

Has anyone else heard anything like this..or is it just bull

Bull.

Oh, and tell your friend to start "practicing" for jail now. Maybe start with just a finger.

did your friend murder someone or run over a mailbox?

Your post is lacking a vault of detailed information.

A lot of people go to the army to skip a jail sentence. I got that from "Renaissance Man", a movie, so it must be true!

Kiddie pr0n? If that's the case, there's nothing that he can do to prepare.

Animal porn? That damn Discovery channel is too addictive....there should be warnings before every broadcast.

I'm sure that's some kind of old rule - and, possibly, during wartime, someone could volunteer to go. If your friend goes through the recruiter, they will insist on running a police check on the individual. Simply put, your friend is in a not-so-good situation right now. And, for the life of me, I can't understand why someone would download porn of neekid five-year-olds onto their computer.

you can cop a plea to serve in lieu of a jail sentence...but the way it works is you really can't be a serious criminal nor be unable to pass the physical off the bat. They aren't going to walk you through this.

Also in non-war times it's about a hopeful as winning the lottery, however, now they'd have good use for the person. Just be prepared to be in harm's way.

Indeed. Anywhere he goes, he's headed for a brutal ass beating.

Literally.

If he's lucky it'll only be his ass.

I'll be willing to bet that the judge that hears the trial will give your friend a jail sentence - just for the purpose of making an example out of him.
