My 5-year-old nephew was molested. I took great pleasure in hearing the stories of the offender's prison term. Made my fvcking day.

If I was in that situation, I'd be making friends with a guard real fast. And bribing him to look the other way a little more often. Maybe forget Shower Patrol too.

I seriously doubt that any of the Armed Forces would accept this sort of criminal as a recruit. There have been cases where someone who was busted with weed or blow made a deal like you described, but I don't think any one would take a pedophile or a kiddy porn geek.
I understand how you might want to help your friend, but you should start thinking about your own personal boundaries as well.
Is there a point at which you could not remain someone's friend?

I would be extremely surprised if any branch would want your friend. Back in 2000 I visited my buddy at the AF recruiting office when he came back from his training. IIRC, there was this other kid in there who was finding out they didn't want him because he had an exibition of speed offense(s) on his record. Granted this was pre-9/11, the AF, and only part of a conversation I was eavesdropping on; but racing and hosting that server are in two separate ballparks.

Your continued loyalty to your friend is commendable, but it does not mean you have to defend his crimes.
