My cousin told me that she took all the lightbulbs and toilet paper when she caught her husband in bed with his boss. (Female boss, that is.)

Right now I have no idea how long it will take to find out where we're going to live. We can probably set my mom's computer up at my grandmother's house, but that's only temporary. The packing is going. lol We've been up since early this morning. We both had this really weird feeling that he would show up today. (Hopefully we're wrong.) The request for the restraining order got sent to the judge this morning, so we're praying that he/she grants it. We still have a lot more packing to do. I'm taking a very short break and then back to work for me.

Heather -- If your mom can't get the restraining order from the website in oldsmoboat's link, get some advice from an attorney. If you don't know one, PM me, and I can give you a good reference in L.A., but it will be better if you can find one locally.

Well, we're getting there. VERY slowly. lol It seems like we're never going to get out of here.

Well, we got the restraining order! We also got a 'kick out' order. He HAS to move out of this house. We went to the meeting at the women's shelter tonight and the lady wasn't able to offer that much help. She wasn't able to give us the referral to housing or anything, but told us where we might be able to get one. The process is just so stinking long. She did, however, give us two $10 vouchers for food at Vons. That was really cool. It really helps. Tomorrow morning we're going to go to the place she suggested for housing help and we'll go from there.

Remember you have to have him served by a neutral party. I would recommend making about a gazillion copies of the RO and stashing them everywhere (purse, car, etc). Typically law enforcement will need to attach a copy of the RO to whatever report they file if he violates the order so they will need a copy to take with them. Yes it is true they can make a copy but it is much neater if you are able to hand them a copy.

Also some jurisdictions require you to have a copy of the served order on file with their records division or main office.

To serve someone with a RO you merely have to hand it to them. If they choose to not take it that is their problem. Hand it to them and drop it at their feet if they don't take it. Whoever serves the RO needs to sign the proof of service.

Some churches have 'benevolent fund' that they may offer for urgent need. So, in addition to the aforementioned helps, you might want to try your local churches (or church people you know) for temporary help.

The Sheriff's department has a copy that they can serve him with. We are going to make a copy to keep here so that if he comes, we can call the police and have them serve him. Tomorrow morning I'll know more about our housing situation. The way it looks right now, I may have to go up to Sacramento to stay with my dad again and my mom may have to stay with my grandmother. I can't stay at my grandmother's house because we don't get along. We're both stubborn, stubborn women. lol) So...please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Well, I've been making call after call today. The closest we've come to getting housing was just a little while ago. I'll hear back on Monday whether or not the place I called can give us a referral.
