Q: What is your opinion on BOSE speakers?

Don't buy subs on watts

rather have a paradyme 500 watt sub than any bose POS sub..

Bose doesnt know how to build subs period.. great highs... not much else no mids no bass

I have a shocker for ya. Bose fanatics want to buy Bose. They like the sky-high prices. They brag about their $10k+ Bose system. If you tell them you actually don't like Bose they will get pissed and argue with you.
There is nothing immoral with selling someone something that they desperately want, even if you personally don't think it a great deal.

Bose speakers are designed for the housewife who lets her husband have a high-end sound system under the condition that she doesn't see it anywhere, hence the white-colored cubes.

NuclearNed's comment about selling commision reminded me of one of my college classmates. He would buy Bose speaker components in bulk, assemble them, then sell them to other students. He'd clear about $75/pair.

At first he couldn't sell any, but then he started telling people they were hot, and after that he couldn't keep up with demand. It's weird what motivates people to buy stuff.

And here's more: Bose has always had a really nice incentive program for salespeople. If you sell tons of Bose products, you can get some really nice stuff from them. So, uber high commission + bonus prizes = salespeople who will do whatever it takes to sell the stuff, even if there are better products out there. This is exactly the reason you should do your homework before talking to a salesperson about anything.

Well... as someone who has worked in sales for years, I look at it from the other perspective. If someone wants something, and you can't talk them out of it, then you need to sell it to them before they buy it from someone else.
For example, if you sell suits, and a customer walks in and insists on buying a bright orange plaid suit, the last thing you want to do is insult his taste, as that will send him straight to your competitor.

heh, i got an HK AVR630, Klipsch Synergy F3 fronts, C1, and S1's in the back, all for about $1800 (already had a BA sub). I don't think i can even get a surround sound BOSE system for that price, and my setup is superior

I'm just saying that going and buying a sub based on wattage is a lot like buying a computer based off Ghz.

Don't tell the car audio people that watts aren't as important as they think! It never ceases to amaze me when people say that they have to have 1000+ watts for a sub in the car. I make them listen to mine, so I show them what "just" 600 watts can do.....lol

I bought the triports, i think they are mediocre, but not as good as my old seinhessers (sp).

Sennheisers kill the Bose headphones (even though their headphones sound a lot better than their other products).

Yeah, that's the other comment I usually get....you only have one 12" sub? In a sealed box? With only 600 watts? Well, not everyone that enjoys music wants no trunk space and excessive bass and to be heard from 3 blocks away......

BOSE is, shall we say, of lesser quality. Their boxes usually aren't bad if you're just using a mid, but You're probably better off with the speakers you can get at walmart. I mean really, I have a set of Sony's I got off of one of their stereo systems. They have a 9" woofer, a 2" mid, and a tweeter. They're great. If you're looking to spend money on speakers, pick up a pair of jensen's or something. Go to an electronix store like soundtrack and go listen to various speakers in their sound room. Just find something you really like that's in your price range. But bottom line, that probably isn't BOSE if you have functional ears.
