Back in my college days they were really fun to sell because they had the highest commission percentage of virtually all the speakers that I sold; for this strictly economic reason I pushed them on customers as hard as humanly possible. To a salesman, more commission = these are the best speakers ever. In actuality, they are not bad speakers, but deep down I have always known that for the money there are better speakers.justifying spreading lies to the masses
if you want small try KEF

At first he couldn't sell any, but then he started telling people they were hot, and after that he couldn't keep up with demand. It's weird what motivates people to buy stuff.

I have a shocker for ya. Bose fanatics want to buy Bose. They like the sky-high prices. They brag about their $10k+ Bose system. If you tell them you actually don't like Bose they will get pissed and argue with you.
There is nothing immoral with selling someone something that they desperately want, even if you personally don't think it a great deal.
Well... as someone who has worked in sales for years, I look at it from the other perspective. If someone wants something, and you can't talk them out of it, then you need to sell it to them before they buy it from someone else.Originally posted by: NuclearNed

And here's more: Bose has always had a really nice incentive program for salespeople. If you sell tons of Bose products, you can get some really nice stuff from them. So, uber high commission + bonus prizes = salespeople who will do whatever it takes to sell the stuff, even if there are better products out there. This is exactly the reason you should do your homework before talking to a salesperson about anything.

You don't have to tell me the shortcomings of the bose "bass module"
I'm just saying that going and buying a sub based on wattage is a lot like buying a computer based off Ghz.

Don't tell the car audio people that watts aren't as important as they think! It never ceases to amaze me when people say that they have to have 1000+ watts for a sub in the car. I make them listen to mine, so I show them what "just" 600 watts can do.....lol

Overpriced, Overrated. Kind of like Monster Cables. People thinkg they are great because that's what their marketing tells them. But they aren't worth the price.
The difference is, Monster Cables actually perform well. They ARE over priced and marketed, but at least they perform WELL.
Bose cannot say the same

Overpriced garbage?
I bought the triports, i think they are mediocre, but not as good as my old seinhessers (sp).
Reality is that they arn't any better performing. Monster cables perform as well as any run of the mill copper wire you can buy at home depot.Originally posted by: YOyoYOhowsDAjello

They are acutally pretty decent. If they cost the equivalent of normal "better than generic" stuff instead of twice that, they would be a good option.

Ornery has a great post with a LOT of links that show monster cables do nothing more than any copper wire.

You're mainly paying for build quality for cables. I think the build quality of monster warrants a price similar to stuff like acoustic research etc. at best buy/circuit city. I'm not saying they're anything special, but comparing them to dental floss is a bit extreme![]()
