Samurai Jack has an interesting visual style and choreography. Dexter is a cliche but fun in small

doses. Powerpuff Girls are Hardcore! (or at least Bubbles is).
The last major-network cartoon I recall liking was the previous X-Men series on Fox (90s), good animation and writing, including the ongoing time-travel story arc with Cable(?) trying to prevent the Terminator-style future.
Anime: some of it is great (Ghost In The Shell, Spirited Away, Cowboy Bebop, Noir, ...) and some of it is junk food (DBZ, cheesy but fun).
Just like in music, movies, books it's easy to recall a "golden age" in the past, conveniently remembering the good parts and forgetting the other 90% that was garbage.
