A few thoughts
I agree the SEC is the best football conference. However - you can't discount Florida's loss this year by saying "they don't lose when they try" LSU isn't nearly as good as they were last year - Georgia may have beaten up Hawaii last year, but don't forget the West Virginia loss the year before. Alabama - let's see how they end up - I wouldn't be surprised at all if LSU beats them this weekend.
Penn St is a good team - they demolished Oregon St - who beat USC, and beating Ohio St in Columbus is no easy feat for any team in the country - and for those people saying OSU would have won if they played their other QB - he would have been sacked about 8 or 9 times, see the USC game tape.
As for Texas Tech - I would be surprised if they finish undefeated - Oklahoma and Ok St are tough games. The biggest problem in the Big 12 is the structure of their divisions - instead of their championship game being the two best teams in the conference, it's going to be one really good team against a middle tier team since the one division is so stacked!
Let's be honest though - Oklahoma's failures in their last two bowl games are at least as bad as Ohio St's - and OSU at least lost to much better teams.
As for scheduling - I give Ohio St a ton of credit for playing home and away series with Texas, USC, and coming up - Miami Fl and Oklahoma - I don't see any of the SEC teams scheduling tough non-conference games - ask Arkansas how that USC game went last year btw. - however, I wouldn't be crazy about scheduling tough non-conference games either with their conference schedules.
Bottom line - teams matchup with other teams, not conferences - if you can't look objectively at other teams/conferences, then just keep your comments to yourself.
As for conference championship games - they only exist to make money - they actually hurt those conferences in terms of National Championships - makes going undefeated that much harder.
My top 15 teams in the country this year:
Florida
USC
Penn St
Alabama
Georgia
Texas Tech
Oklahoma
Texas
LSU
Ohio St
Oklahoma St
Utah
Boise St
I think quite frankly there is a significant drop-off after that - TCU is decent, Missouri can't stop anyone defensively, the ACC teams are average, no other Pac 10 teams are worth much, BYU doesn't excite me much...you get the idea.
