So PSN is still down right?
We missed out on a double XP weekend for cod i think. Sucks.
The only fortunate thing is that there aren't any huge releases out or PS3 exclusives. Imagine if this happened during the holiday season or around the launch of GT5.
I guess we can blame the hackers since without hacking we wouldn't need security. But at the same time, don't leave your front door wide open and expect it to not be robbed.
I think the timing was about as bad as it could've been. PSN went down less than 24 hours after the launch of a high profile game that is basically an online shooter (SOCOM 4), the launch of a game that was the beginning of a big cross-platform initiative that requires online to work (Portal 2), and a high-profile and well received fighting title that basically relies on online play for longevity (Mortal Kombat).
As for failing PS3's, well some are going to fail. It happens. It just happens about 1/3rd as much with PS3 as it does with Xbox. Of course it probably happens even less with Wiis...lol
I'm sure this has been asked before... but why is the entirety of PSN down when what they really need to keep secure is CC info? Can't they let people play online as it's all free and shouldn't be tied to any CC database. I'm sure it's all interconnected though in some awfully stupid way given what we've seen of how Sony does things.
Not that I'm needing on or anything. I managed to link my Portal 2 game before it went down :awe: Just curious.
so ive been on vacation for a week getting drunk on the beach totally off the grid.
Shits still down i see
any new news i should be aware of?

Portal 2
Mortal Kombat
Socom 4
I would hardly say there aren't any huge releases.
As for the "OMG ALL MY CONSOLES R FAILING EXCEPT MY 360" crowd....sucks to be you.
I read on IGN this morning that the official date for the PSN coming back fully is May 31st. I am starting to think this will be the first time we can play online. They missed the end of the week timeline to restore basic service. Maybe they decided to just wait until the entire thing is operational.
Treyarch has said they're going to do it for PS3 players as soon as PSN is back up.

I know Sony is saying SOE only lost foreign CC numbers, but I've just had about a $1000 in fraudulent charges billed to my credit card in the last 24 hours. This is the first time I've ever had fraudulent charges to my account. I had several SOE subscriptions for years.
Proof that SOE USA lost CC#s as well...no. Suspicious...hell yes.

Haven't heard a single person talk about any of those games in much anticipation. When I say huge, I'm talking GT5 level of release.
The Portal deal really sucks. I assume #2 is still just a single player game but doesn't it require you to go online and authenticate (DRM) before you can actually play your single player game?
