You lucky duck. That's how it worked for me when I lived in Florida, but here there is no alternative except for satellite so Comcast just laughs at us when we threaten (or do) cancel.

Yep, when you control the market, you can do that. There's no choice in much of America, and we lag behind other countries because of it

Well, kinda. Its shitty local service, and kinda pricey, but I'll only need it for one month.

Just saved $87 bucks a month and stayed with the same provider. Am pretty happy. Like a lot of us, we just have two internet provider choices here.

Was stuck in another year of a 2 year Internet/TV FIOS contract that I re-upped on last January to keep a certain price point. It was a mistake but I ran the numbers and it made more sense to switch to XFinity 200/5 Internet only with a 1.2TB data cap (no need for TV anymore), eat the $215 Verizon cancellation fee, and still end up almost $400 saved for the year. Called Verizon to explain this to their cancellation department, but they offered me absolutely terrible options. So I did call and set up an installation date with XFinity for 1/4/21. This time I called back Verizon with an actual cancellation date in hand and this rep was much quicker to roll over. Could have been just the different personality of this other rep as well.

Ended up going from Gigabit FIOS internet with a Choice TV package at $127 a month (scheduled to go up to $137 a month due to an expiring promo), to a 300/300 FIOS unlimited internet only plan at $55 a month with auto-pay on. Both prices include their latest router rental.

It just depends on the rep you get, how serious you sound, and maybe just tell them you have a cancellation date, the day after your new provider is scheduled to come install new service. That might help.

Trying to curb usage, might be able to keep it under the 1.2TB limit each month, but won't be easy...especially with at home schooling and winter time.

I'm trying to change habits and keep it under. But if I have to pay extra for unlimited, I plan on getting monies worth 😉

What plan do you currently have? I'm on the 100/15 (Performance I think) for $80/month. I see the equivalent business plan is on a promotion for $70/month for two years, with a three year agreement; after two years, the price increases to $100/month.

I've been considering business plan just for the unlimited.

Currently on 100/6 for just about $80.

10TB a month? What in the name of the holy ghost....wow.....24x7 .Underground streaming/gaming/podcast/broadcast headquarter for the whole region?

The most I ever used was less about 500 Gb per month.

I wonder how much data a month YouTube is using.
xhamster just added 4k porn.

30 day's traffic, as reported by my Synology router.

The 4K TV which is typically streaming 6 - 8 hours per day represents 67% of total d/l. Granted not everything watched is 4K, but using this amount of data for 6 hrs/day would still be less than 2TB a month if streaming 24/7.

The Weather Server, which is sending weather data from my weather station to the internet, including my website, CWOP, WU, and others every 3 - 5 seconds 24/7 is the largest upload source.

I'm showing 1.6 TB downloaded and 103 GB uploaded the past 30 days. I'm wondering why my upload is so high. The only thing I can think of is iCloud stuff but even that should be only couple GB at most. I don't torrent or upload anything else.

Yeah in February I’m going to churn to xfinity $40 150mb down and I suspect 5mb up, which is okay but I’m used to fios synchronous up/down speeds.
I’ll keep xfinity for a few months then go back to fios when I get a great offer.
As I’ve said fuck Verizon. Why should I as an existing customer get less speed than new customers and pay $15 more per month for that lower speed.
