Just got my Wave Cable/Broadband bill. Earlier I had mentioned the last increase was the final straw and I called up and got my bill dropped by a bunch. Asked them when all those promotions end so I can call you up again and bitch. I thought they said Dec. 16. Well, today, I got my bill for the month and it went from $241.76 to $344.65. Seems they already killed the promo deals. Being retired, I'm willing to sit on the phone for 20 minutes to wait for a human being to wrangle with. I did get rid of my Voip phone in the process, mostly junk anyway. Got it down to 245.37 including tax. You've got to hound the mothers.

😱

Yea, that!

I pay $70 for internet (cable 200/10), my only option up here on the mountain, and subscribe to a number of streaming services, for another $50ish a month, and can snag some OTA channels, but almost never watch "regular TV".

So a sad little update:

Yesterday CommunistCast shut off my internet because I didn't register their spyware modem/router combo. I called and was told I would need to pay $30 for unlimited internet, unless I actually installed their equipment. I agreed to the $30 fee to get my net up and running.

I then called Comcast Business and will be signing up for a business account. With the 2-year contract I'm getting 200/20 unlimited data for $118/month. The line is a business line, so there are higher uptime standards. I was told that Business customers are on a different circuit so that I should be less likely to see slowdowns when the neighborhood kids finish their schoolwork and start playing Fornite...or whatever.

The business line is going in on Friday. If you're not signed up for TV from Comcast, their Business department might be a better buy for some people.

Damn all you guys talking about this. I had to log into my fios account to see how much data we use and it appears that is not part of our package. All my bill shows it 100/100 $39.99
*********until**********
1/25/2021 the a $15 promo credit expires.
I started shopping last night an it pissed me off.
Current Verizon fios promo $40 200/200
Just as before I churned my account best rate I can go to is $85 150/150
Started shopping with xfinity below is my chat

I give the dude credit he hung in there and tried to get it back to me buying. He handled it like I did with wireless “that’s the rule and I don’t make the rules”

I'm surprised the rep knew anything about telecomm plant.

I have a few right-leaning friends, and during one discussion, I decided to bring up the FCC. I wanted to show how anti-consumer (i.e. anti-my friends) they are, and I think I chose an easy example to represent that. Under the Obama/Wheeler FCC, they enacted a rule that companies would be forced to be upfront with all fees in regard to advertising and on their website. (I believe it also required companies to be upfront about deals that included introductory rates/discounts.) It was likened to the Nutrition Facts label on food boxes. What happened to it? The Trump/Pai FCC got rid of it.

You left out the good part. What was their response? MAGA, Murica or we love trump? or oh, I didn't know that, I only watch Fox News and listen to trump.

So they ran a different cable down the street and to your house, one that your neighbors traffic is not being carried on? mmmmokay

For $118, I would want gigabit. I pay $70 for 200/10 which consistently tests at 225/15

Affective 10/1/2020 AT&T dropped the cap on the 100 and 300 fiber plans for new and existing customers. BUT, they now have a $10 mandatory equipment charge for all plans for new customers. So the 100 plan is advertised as $35 + $10 in small print. I'm not sure what they are doing about the equipment fee for existing fiber customers. I've had the 300 plan for about 1.5 years so I am waiting to see what happens.

Once Biden takes over and replaces trump's appointees I will be filing a FCC and FTC complaint against AT&T.

Nah, unless they were just humoring me, they agreed with it not being good. Usually, most of the anti-Democrat sentiment that I hear has to do with their idea of prospective gun control laws.

You can want one gigabit for $118/month all day long. It's not available in my area. My options are ATT or Comcast and it's way more than that for 1 gig. If you know where I can get a 1 gig line for 120/month, please let me know. I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

They were probably selling me se BS about having my own line but whatever they did the quality is better from a speed and ping perspective. The business technician was here about twice as long as any residential tech, so maybe he just knew what the problem was and worked to fix it.

Yea, 1gbit download is now $190 in my area. Again, comcast is my telco and the only reasonable option. Dialup? C'mon...DSL? Flaky old lines and 3mbps tops if you're close enough to central demarc.... satellite? Lol yea ok, I'm on the wrong side of a hill for that, and would have to spend probably 20-30k to remove enough trees or run the disk 100+feet up a tree and even so...high latency and low speeds.

I wish that was available here.

Realistically speaking, almost nobody needs a gig download speeds, almost nobody. My family uses the internet tons, and our 100/6 plan is just fine. Sometimes it takes planning, like downloading games overnight instead of while streaming video.

$245.37 for reduced cable/broadband bill? And you're ok with this? You guys are junkies and addicted to TV.

$241.76 seems outrageous. Do you have s sports package? Since you're posting on a tech forum I assume you have looked into all of the cord cutting options?

Im gonna be changing services briefly. If comcast is as consistent as they have been over the years, they will come back right away and offer me a good deal for at least two years.

You lucky duck. That's how it worked for me when I lived in Florida, but here there is no alternative except for satellite so Comcast just laughs at us when we threaten (or do) cancel.
