I really don't know about that koolance bridge block thingamijig on the inlet, seems like it'll create a lot of restriction on the inlet which is very bad for ddc's as martin proved with the reservoir tops kicking all the rests of the tops butts in his roundup. I think a good copper wye would be your best bet for flow, or even two lines off a nearby 250 or 400 multires.

actually the junction isnt that bad.

And im trying to focus on head pressure in this build. Thats why i also placed a right angle at the inlet to accelerate the water b4 it hits the steel plate accelerators. Im guessing with a gradual speed increase i can probably squeeze the last bit of performance out of the system.

Interesting ideas about increasing performance, be sure to post your tems for us! Watching a build like this will give me ideas on how to make things work better when I'm ready to tinker around with what I have. For example, I'm thinking about taking that elbow attached to my pump outlet out all together, will this really help? I'm also curious about that koolance fitting derwen mentioned. It does seem it will be a bit flow restrictive, but how does that affect the head pressure as opposed to using a wye fitting?

The real key is going to be tuning your restrictions to a certain psi drop so you get your flow between 1.5-2gpm so you don't loose performance by not having enough water get through the block but, so that your velocity through your more restrictive blocks is at it's best. Your top drops a lot of head above 1.5gpm so you want to keep it pretty close to there. at 1.5gpm your pump is good for 5.5psi so you want your pressure drop to be close(~5%) of that to get you to 1.5gpm. You need to find out the pressure drop curves of your radiator and block to figure out roughly where you're at. For example, a fuzion with teh 3.6mm nozzle requires more than 7psi just to make 1gpm.

My loop for example I know does 1.5gpm with my block and 10ft of 1/2" ID tubing with ~75C water. I'll be cutting that down to about 6.5' of 1/2" ID tubing with the same block but, i'll be using 50% alcohol 45% water and 5%pentosin G12 red. That mixture at room temperature is going to flow much better than the water but, I'll be running it down to about -20C so I figure it'll be pretty close at the end of the day. Thats all with a pump that will best the 655 at full open but, with worse pressure drop problems. Where it would take 655 5.5psi drop to loose about 5gpm it probably takes mine about 6 psi drop to loose 6.25 gpm and yours takes 6.5psi drop to loose 4gpm. For comparison, aigo's RD-30 at 18v takes 12psi to drop 5.75 gpm. That ratio is just basically the total pressure available from the pump. You have to look at the total curve to figure out where the sweet spots are.

Then you have to look at efficiency. Your pump is the most efficient at 2gpm.

All the math involved is just terrifying isn't it?

T

Tim

Terrifying it is...
I fail horribly @ math. I'll be reading your post a few times to grasp what you're telling me then mayble I'll feel more smart and enlightened.

I'll do some research on my blocks to try and figure out where I'm at.

final pics will be up later today.

Ambients taken at 23C Water temp was held at 25.3C according to my monitors.

http://i125.photobucket.com/al...orla/Clipboard01-1.jpg

4.4 wasnt stable unless i dropped another .02vcore. Then it spiked too hard off load. As i said i love this X38.

4.6 i tried on a suicide run @ 1.5... ummm i cant race this heat on water even.

4.2ghz is where she will be kept at 24/7.

Need a Friggin remount. ARGH, i'll get to that later also. :\

Have you seen any more info about voltage on these 45nm chips? I have mine at 1.35 loaded right now but can run my E8400 at 4.2ish at 1.42. Temps are fine at small FFT load never getting above 55 on my lapped tuniq. Ive sort of asked around in the other forums but people seem to be ignoring me as of late :p

Just really worried about pushing too much voltage on these things after all those reports on XS.

BTW cant wait for the final picts ^^

Intel says it's rated to 1.3625v with a thermal specification of 72.4c. I'd try to stay around that, maybe 5% over would be ok.

Hey aigo ... great enthusiast system. But... I gotta have more cowbell on that overclock!! Can we see some x11 action??

:) What's with the paranoia just because of the trivial point that your CPU costs the same as some used cars!! Pfft!!!

Have I gotta car for you!

Nice job Aigo, what's the performance gain of that top over 2 pumps inline? is there any or is it just space savings?

Its actually less by a margin. A small one, i like this because of foot print.

Also i cant do the 4.4 without more vcore and i cnat do 4.6 without more vcore. @ 4.6 the system generates too much heat for my block to catch up to it. :T

$%@#$#@

i think one of my ati cards just died. I cant activate xfire. Each time i try it BSOD's.

Also i started getting a weird driver issue until i reformated, thats when i couldnt activate xfire.

Anyhow i'll probably have to test it manually to see if its working or not this weekend.

(I'm not sure who does on the ATi side, if anyone)

Well considering its DOA, i dont think it really matters.

The card is artifacting. Also I got the card at frys.

Anyhow, just gonna take it back for a swap. If not, then im gonna be picking up a X2.

anyhow guys, this project was on hold for such a long time. I appologize.

I begin restart tomorrow. Got the second card from RMA, and it tests good.

So i guess i'll start posting more pics tomorrow and the final setup.

So,,, here it is Sunday night,,,, where's Percy? Mom go and screw things up by giving herself a holiday? Yeah, me too. Went to see Mom yesterday and took the wife to dinner today, fortunately for me I'm waiting for the Dtek v2 otherwise I'd have been pissed. Damn women!:D
Are you using that dual pump in Percy or what? I'm looking forward to pics.

hey, yeah i did some work on it yesterday.

put her into her shell, however i think i need to get some more fitings and i need to drop a drain on her.

i completely missed that aspect. :\ DOE.

Anyhow i'll post pics later. :T

oh and yeah WB, im using that crazy pump. :T or i should say dual pumps.

Tim

I'd like to see the results from that pump. How much did it cost you to set that up?

ummmm 69.99 x 2 + Top. :T + fittings.

Dual inlet, design. The Top had to be modded to fit the newer DDC's tho.

You guys want sneak pics of freya and sammy as well?

Sammy is my SMP sassoman setup, passively air cooled.

Freya is my HTPC. :T 8800GT SLI system.

Huh!, you are putting 4 drive on RAID 0?, I dont want to tell you how to build but I would say RAID 0 + 1 would be a better idea!

Other than that, I hate you.....God damn it, I'm struggling to get dosh for my next build and you have like 3 similar PC's or something?, Its not fair......

Nah im going for raw speed without redunancy for the IO. Im gonna be picking up an ARECA 1680 as soon as i can stomache the 1g price tag on it.

I have Sammy for Backup Purpose:

Sammy Spoiler:

And here is semi finished Persephone. Drum Roll Please.

However i need to tear her apart. I got the EK Clear tops so i need to install them. Also need to do some work, excuse me how its kinda dirty, i left the doors and window open in my shop and as you can see, it gets dusty uber fast. :[

Absolutely love these fan filters:

How i did a bridge from CPU -> NB
http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/IMG_1090.jpg

Now a lot of you guys have asked me how i did the pump. Well Suprise!
<note, when i took the picture there was no ziptie, there are zipties around it now.>

http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/IMG_1093.jpg

Watercooling still needs some fans to help cool the board down and the ram. So temporary final pics until i can get more time to work on her:
http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/IMG_1094.jpg

Enjoy. A few more weeks on persephone, and i should be starting on sammy. Weeeee SMP rocks.
