Now wait a minute, I have to take the side of white family for a second. If they are not against their daughter marrying the asian guy I find it kinda hard to believe they would not want any of his relatives there for no reason or because they are hard core racists. That doesn't add up. Something seems to be missing.

yep same here....thats why i was wondering if they were allowing their asian friends to attend...(provided they have any)....because if they really were racist...then NO asians would be allowed, why would they allow such concessions....

this guy should play along with the in-laws, and then walk out right when the justice of peace/whoever they use for the wedding asks him if he will marry this chick. Blood is thicker than vaginal secretion.

im all for this idea! make those racist bastards pay. but the guy's probably too whipped to even think of this...such a shame!

I am in an interracial marraige, going on 9 years. I can attest that if they are hard core racists, one I doubt they would pay for the wedding and two if anything they would be boycotting the marriage. The original poster seems to have problem with his bride, jealousy maybe, and has left out some info and is just calling the white family racist and leaving out some info here.

very accusatory...i agree that hes definetely painting a cloudy picture for us all here...

It's a tough situation. You probably won't change the views of the white family unless the asian man can prove to them that they have no basis for judging someone on their race. It's not an easy thing to do because they've probably never seen asian culture except when they get take out. They're sheltered and probably red neck....go figure. You can only tell this guy that he shouldn't enter into a marraige unless he gets the family's blessing. If he doesn't get their blessing and they're just going along with their daughter's decision, he's got to prove himself to them for them to come around... I don't know what that will take. People are usually ignorant when it comes to this stuff. Pray for him.

But apparently he has their blessing...or else they woudln't be paying for the wedding...the question is why the white family won't allow extended asian family to attend....j0hnny...gonna need an update here

i haven't read any of the responses, but my immediate thoughts:

- what's the bride's opinion of this ? She needs to step up big, no matter who is paying
- asian families are all about pride and doing this to them is exactly what not to do
- i'd feel the same way if I were the asian family and would forbid it... for it is a sign of further things to come
- the asian guy is stuck ... I can understand how he feels about the girl... I can sympathize... it's not as easy as "doing as your parents say"... I honestly don't know what I'd do if I were in his position (didn't he see the racism before he decided to get engaged?)

EDIT>>>

Jh0nny... I find it hard to take anything you say seriously after the whole POON thread...

even if its not serious, its still a worthy discussion....

There's not much to discuss. The groom is spineless and the bride's family are dicks. This marriage is destined to fail.

including the future son-in-law as well?

Someone has to be the best man(Father) and it would just be totally asinine to exclude a guy's mom from the wedding.

I have a racist uncle in my family as well, but there is no way in hell I would put up with it when it came to my friends of other heritage.

You know what's telling. Is the fact, if this is true the groom is siding with the white family. That tells me he agrees with them for some reason. Maybe its the other way around. Maybe some of this guy's family members have a problem with him marrying a white woman and have said or done some things that have caused the white family to not want them there for fear they would ruin their daughters wedding. White people aren't the only ones who are racist. I know when I got married I purposely didn't invite certain folks from my family caused I knew those clowns were prejudice. No way this white family embraces this asian boy to point they want to pay for the wedding and be racist. I just find that hard to believe. There are other reasons to dislike people besides their race.

My mothers's side is the asian/chineese in me (I am half/half); she and all her friends (which i call aunties) want me to marry an asian woman. I want to marry a white woman; I am more attracted to caucasians than I am asians. I can forsee problems when it comes time for me to be married.

if i were him, i would not marry that b!tch.

how the hell do you even plan on living together when your significant other family is racist against you??????

just drop the wedding and reconsidered finding a new girl. Let the old b!tch inbred.

Hey xospec, this is all true. The brides family (white) does not consent to their marraige. However, they will let them marry because, as I said earlier, they are partners in their own law practice.

The white family is openly racist to the grooms family. To add insult to injury, they told them that it's their daughter's marraige and not their sons marraige.

The parents of the groom do not want to disown their son but that's what we're telling them to do because he has completely lost any reasoning and will just do whatever his soon-to-be wife says.

Remember, the bride is now in emotional turmoil too. Either way, this is such a disgrace. Just talking about this infuriates me.

so whats the other half? if your mom married a non-asian guy, and she wants you to marry an asian woman, what does that tell you?? 😕

If they can't afford the ceremony without anyone's support, then I say they should hold a very small one and everyone's invited. If the white parents aren't happy with it, then they don't have to come. Same goes with the asian ones.
