I agree. Prince also isn't really young anymore, either, so obviously he can't sing as well. I guess today's youth is so used to hearing their favorite singers lip sync in concert that anything less than studio produces perfection isn't good enough for them.

Good point. People think that studio replays, enhanced voices, and beat tracks with backup singers make a good musician. That or Emo screamers.

Many have forgotten what good music is. I am not even a huge Prince fan, but I admire his music and his ability to put out a great mix, Funk, R&B, and anything else. He's a great guitar player, and has good vocals. He's always stayed true to his craft and has never "sold out".

If you look at his music, it's always about crafting a decent piece. I never really appreciated him a lot until college when my freshman roommate was a fanatic. He also had great music in Batman, which really set the scene for a great, non-mainstream, movie.

It's not possible to have a good super bowl show, why in the world would any real artist want to play for something like that?
 
Both hands don't need to be on the guitar at all times...

I was watching it with one of my roommates, who happens to have been a guitarist for 10+ years, and he didn't comment on it looking like he wasn't playing...although I'm pretty sure he was high lol.
 
I actually liked it a lot.

He sounded very good, despite the rain.

Being able to play and sing that well in the rain deserves respect.

He is, and he is a rather good guitarist (although it is pointless for him to be switching guitars, they all sound the same). If he was playing a bit more melody than randomly screwing around it would be nice, though.
 
Unlike most of the people in this thread - I enjoyed this performance more than halftime show in the last few years.

prince fscking rocked. i'm sorry that no one today apparently appreciates decent music. my god that was an awesome half-time show. so much better than skull mccartney playing yet another john lennon tune.
