I found a 9400GT laying around that i threw in one of my machines.

I had to update the BIOS of my big cruncher because of stability... hopefully it fixes the once a day reboot.

computer up and running with a single drive.

I never thought of doing a 3 disk raid0... how's the performance over a two disk raid0?

Throughput is improved over 2 disk raid0.........LOL

I don't remember the numbers offhand, and there a bit busy right now.

After the race i can benchmark them again if ya like.

It was over 200 MB/s if memory serves.

The only thing I hadn't done for the quad whose 9800Gt would not crunch was to update the bios.

The update said it passed, but now it won't boot.

Anyone have any idea how I can recover this gigabyte mobo?

In the past, I have give up and bought a new one.

ASUS boards have IC chips for the bios and you can burn one and pop it in. I may have to go back to ASUS.

See sig: Sadly, this lemon won't crunch!

My current Gigabyte motherboard (G31M-ES2L) has something called "DualBIOS" that's supposed to re-flash the BIOS back to the factory default automatically if something goes wrong with a BIOS flash. I'm guessing that hasn't happened with yours? :(

try the Jumper Rudy?

You go into Bios and check the settings?

If you have to set the memory by hand or video to PCI-e?

by flashing it, it's back to factory settings.

yes, I reset bios.

no, it will not get as far as the bios so I can do anything else!

It's dead.

It's my last gigabyte mobo. This makes 7 that have failed.

I'm going to newegg or mwave on 31 Dec to get something new.

Til then, my one quad should produce around 100K ppd.

To bad, your right, no Boot to bios, it's dead.

I have two Gigabyte X58 motherboards and i love them.
(UD3R and a UD7 Rev. 1)

I had nothing but trouble with Asus boards in the past.
i got 3 of the same model from NewEgg before i got one that would post.

Had a good Asrock and a great Biostar Also.

All In all, were just a sum of our experance....:)

No big changes. Filibusterman still hasn't caught me. JonesTheWine still hasn't caught him. BOINCstats still haven't caught us. We still haven't caught Ukraine. So we're still 6th. :)

Edit: One big change: dajeepster has gone from 8th to 5th overall! :thumbsup:

My quad came back from the dead!

After removing the battery and the power cord, I let it sit for a few hours. It booted right up.

In my haste to try to get the 98000Gt working, I borked gdm. I got it working again, but I can't log in until I borrow a wired keyboard. Apparently, my bluetooth sync got borked, too.

Oh well, something to do in the morning.

:cool::thumbsup:

Instead of using a script to flush your WUs just before the end of the race, you can put this in your cc_config.xml file:

<cc_config>
<options>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
</options>
</cc_config>

You need to restart boinc to read the file.

Message in boinc after restart:
12/20/2010 6:39:50 AM Config: report completed tasks immediately

Thanks for the update! I was wondering where this cc_config.xml file is located since the windows search function doesn't want to help! Is it it application data? I could not find it in the program files folder.

The cc_config.xml file is not present in the default boinc installation. Create the file in notepad or wordpad and save it in "C:\ProgramData\BOINC" folder (win7) and then restart boinc.

Edit: Typing "colon\" gives :\ LOL

I am running from a command line. I will borrow a kb tomorrow to get everything sent up before deadline. And to re-sync the Bluetooth.

Debian Squeeze has the on-screen kb when installed fresh. The is an upgrade from Lenny. I had to do it this way to overcome some login issues. I tried to get this kb to appear at login on my other quad, but have been unable to get it to work.

I will buy a wired kb instead of a new mobo on 31 Dec when I get my SS check.

Thanks for the stats, Ken!

I couldn't stand looking at that log-in screen. It was too much like Schrödinger's Cat. So, I borrowed a kb from the building manager to see if boinc was dead or alive. It was alive!
