Scores will be kept for individuals and teams. Only tasks issued AFTER [the challenge start time] and BEFORE [the challenge end time] will be considered for credit. We will be using the same scoring method as we currently use for BOINC credits. A quorum of 2 is NOT needed to award Challenge score - i.e. no double checker. Therefore, each returned result will earn a Challenge score. Please note that if the result is eventually declared invalid, the score will be removed.

Some remarkable bits of the — technically tentative — 2025 challenge schedule:

• There are more GPU-accelerated challenges than usual.
• The projects of two challenges which are scheduled for later this year are not active yet.
  • Factorial Prime Search, scheduled for September, is a new project. Or rather, a reboot of an old project.
    The PRST program which is used in several of the active subprojects does have tests which are aimed at factorial prime numbers. I don't know what the Factorial sieving status is.
  • GFN-22, scheduled for December, is suspended as long as no GFN-21 prime is found. Maybe they'll unsuspend it for the challenge regardless.

From Michael Goetz's post right after the challenge:
3,849,816 tasks have been sent out.
152,839 (4%) are pending validation. This means a little below 3 hours worth of challenge returns which have yet to be validated.

We've hammered the server really, really, hard, and it could use a rest. From now until the end of the month, if you could run big tasks, that would allow the server to catch up. If it fits with your plans, please ease up and do NOT run the small tasks like PPSE and GFN-16. We've assured that PPSE will be in TdP, so it's safe. Thanks everyone!

I spot-checked the pendings on hosts which I rented out to parsnip. Of all tasks which I checked, each one already had a proof task generated and assigned to another host. Still, I suppose the admins could use a period with lower server load now before the mayhem resumes with TdP.

Looks like I just made it into the top 300! If only my faster pc had better cooling, I would've run it. The fan spinning and it throttling down due to to heat made me just run 1 set of tasks then hit "no new tasks"

For the upcoming PG challenge, now many threads per machine and how many per task since its a GPU challenge ?

4080's and 4090s is what I have if it makes a difference. I set both to unlimited, but that could be all wrong.

CPU tasks use 5.07M cache per task ( for now ). One CCD is what, 8 cores/16 threads, with 32Mb cache? Seems 2 cores/4 threads provides a fair amount of reserved cache, with fair performance.

Set BOINC preferences to 99% CPU usage and you will have ample CPU power left over to assist your GPUs.

GPUs for me are set at unlimited, unlimited. A mix of 4070 and 3070. One at a time.
I have 5950x and 9950x cpus and will run 4 tasks, 4 threads. No SMT and pin them to cores.
This is how I ran it in February's challenge at the end in hopes of finding a prime.
