Preview of the new NV control Panel

I don't like the way they integrated it into a seperate launch page. They should've stuck all that new functionality in the existing control panel.

agreed. i like something simplistic like ATI Tray Tools the best personally.

 
This looks like it's designed all nice and pretty for grandma who will be messing around with them all day. But the new voltage adjustments look neat. 😉
 
Yeah, seriously, I know I can use 3rd party apps or Nvidia's whatever-vision, but getting to the actual settings is already a pain... let's see, right-click Desktop, left click Properties, click Settings, then Advanced, then the 7900GTX tab. Whine whine whine ;^)

Actually, its just two clicks, like ATi's CCC. Right click the Desktop, then left click for the CP. You dont have to go to properties, then advanced anymore.
 
The volatges are not for the cards, its just nTune (which is crap and shouldnt be used).

I do like the seperate fan controls/temps of the cards though. Easier than ATi tool for me and CF.
 
There seems to be an option to select which control panel you want 🙂
I wish ATI did something like that too. Even though ATI Tray Tools takes care of that.
 
It looks a heck of a lot better than ATI's CCC, which I had the displeasure of seeing for the first time today upon replacing the ancient ATI drivers in my parents' system. Whether it uses .NET or not doesn't really matter to me, as long as it doesn't take half an hour to load. 🙂
 
i can see myself using the old panel over this.
I just like using the old list type, rather than navigating through many screens to get where i want, with the list i got everything a click away.
But thats just me, i guess some people will like this 😛
 
My inclination is yes since from what I've read, nVidia is also suppose to be moving to .Net for their new control panel and a new redesign seems to be a logicaltime to move to .Net.
 
The simplicity of the driver might attract attention of many average joes alike.

But the universal fan speed control, voltage etc looks great to me.
 
I doubt the voltage control will actually work for current and older Nvidia cards. Voltage has never been adjustable via software except for a few cards via a bios flash (speaking of the last 2 or 3 generations, I'm not familiar with 5*** series and older), and that was generally just a small bump (~.1V). Hard mods have been needed to physically bypass the resistors. From everything I've read, software voltage adjustments aren't possible on recent Nvidia cards but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I do like the new CP though, especially the monitoring graph at the end of page 1.

Why dont you people understand that its not voltages for the video cards? All it is, is nTune and volts for the CPU/RAM. Honestly, its not that hard...

wow this new panel looks nice! and im glad they put in the original panel in case people dont want to change...i hope this will still support geforce3 users and above...*pout*

I realize that. I just find it surprising they'd add voltage adjustments to a control panel that is supposed to be more n00b-friendly.
 
I like all the new features, but I hope the driver doesn't become a RAM hog after this...that second GB looks better every day.

I'm guessing that if you choose the classic CP you will still have acces to all the features...
Can anyone confirm this?
