I like how everyone likes to point out that "The US should not impose their ideas/ways of life on other nations" and yet other nations just love our fast food joints and 4-5th tier politicians visiting. Many more things I could list but I just don't have the time.

It's rather telling that the conservative press is trying to hype up the fear about Obama being a euro lapdog.

What's next are they going to say he looks French?

It sort of conflicts with the fact that you MUST be an Israeli lapdog to be considered a viable POTUS candidate regardless of which party you are a part of.

Of course pointing this out automatically makes me an anti-semite.

Having a lot of family in Europe, the main issue of Bush in general and the US administration is the fact that he is a totally inept leader. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are scared of the US or not scared, they are just really tired of the DUMB things Bush and Co. have done over the years. Not to mention his behavior which is very untypical of a way you would expect a leader to behave. Yo! Blair, or 'Goodbye from the #1 polluter' don't really have an endearing effect.

I don't see CEOs calling each other and be like 'Yo Jobs! Its Gates here!'.

The reason we are talking to Iran now and opening a consulate is basically a piggy-back to what the EU has been working on with Iran itself.

IIRC I don't think he was any less a bumbling fool in 2000. Either way, he was proven and incompetent bumbling fool between then and 2004 yet ~50% of the voters chose to reward him with another term. Doesn't make sense to me and when asked I just answer, 'Don't ask me, I didn't vote for him either time'.

what the fuck?

I hate how this country sometimes thinks that all that politics surround is black people and white people. What about the rest of us of mixed nationality and mixed races who don't fit into their fucking pie chart stereotypes? What if we like Obama? Do we have 'white guilt' too? It's so tempting for people to fit complex emotions such as choosing a President into little demeaning phrases like 'white guilt'. Mother fuckers

Oh goody...some Bush bashing. Gee why didn't I see that coming?

My point is that Obama is much more touchy feely and more apt to be the type to go to our "allies" and beg for permission to do something rather that taking action on our own.

Now that being said I'm not 100% for always riding off like a crazed cowboy as President Bush has done, but there are times when action needs to be taken and you can't be sitting around on your hands waiting for the likes of the U.N. to make up their minds on if such an action is allowable.

Touchy feely? Why don't you just call him a pussy and dispel with the euphemisms.

Going cowboy has fucked us royally, yet somehow because other world leaders see Obama as someone they can talk to - that's a bad thing.

The truth is that Bush has burned a lot of bridges with our allies and has proven to be completely tone deaf. So yes, other world leaders would like a fresh start with someone who doesn't basically ignore what they have to say and hands out ultimatums like you're either with us or the terrorists.

It may also be comforting that Obama doesn't call out to other world leaders with greetings like "Yo, Blair!".

Which allies would that be?

It seems our relations with France and Germany have gotten better in the past few years.

If you are referring to China and Russia....well they are NOT our allies.

i don't thin anyone was talking about china or russia, and alot of the improvement in relations has to do with americans not pouring french wine down the sewer out of crazed nationalist feeling.

1) you need need high office to be a leader

2) Freshman senator is a pretty high office tbh.

the us was founded by wealthy, educated, upper class Europeans who got sick of paying taxes for nothing. They were the establishment, they were the norm.

Disingenuous and untrue, exactly how untrue depends on which definition of leader you wish to impute to Slick.

-Leader as part of the government/ruling class

Not to mention he is the favorite in the upcoming presidential election, won his party primary against an opponent who no one thought he could beat, and right now is the de facto head of the DNC.

-Leader as a person inspiring a large nation-wide following
Can anyone seriously question this?

What exactly is your criteria for being considered a leader, based on any definition?

He is 1/100th of 1/2 of 1/3rd of our government. He is as much a US leader as Ron Paul or David Vitter.

over 200,000 came out to see him in Berlin.

I wonder if McCain can draw those numbers?

Goes to show being a freshman senator or being a senior senator means jack sh!t in the arena of public opinion.

Sure doesn't. Eminem can get just as many people to PAY to see him. I wouldn't call him a US leader either even if he was a freshman senator at the same time.

He is still 1/100th of 1/2 of 1/3rd regardless of how many people show up. He hasn't won yet and getting cocky tends to turn people off.
