I'd reply, but your unfathomable love of the marketing hype that's Ben & Jerry's sole claim to fame would render you incapable of understanding the answer. There are hundreds of better ice creams than that hippie crap, here's hoping to you growing up enough to someday figure that out for yourself.

I'd refute your entire post without even trying, but your confused and inane dislike of everything that is good and pure in this world would just keep you from understanding the words. Maybe one day you'll realize that you'd be happier if you quit reacting against anything with a catchy slogan or pleasant packaging and judged ice cream based on its deliciousness.

I'd like to be there when your IQ raises high enough for you to finally have that "D'OH!!" moment and comprehension dawns on you that you will NEVER find good ice cream in a supermarket. Given how deeply you're in denial and how fanatically you've swallowed the marketing hype that doesn't seem likely to happen in this life time. But there is one indisputable truth to mass market consumerism: The same people who buy ice cream from a supermarket buy pizza from Dominoes, Mexican food from Taco Bell and deli sandwiches from Subway. They just don't know any better.

Lighten up, Francis.

Haagen Dazs is

Breyer's has always left a weird aftertaste for me and seems to have a lot more air than HD.

I've never found Ben & Jerry's to be that good honestly. I find Haagen Dazs to be much creamier and richer, with stronger flavour.

I like to think of myself as an "ice cream connesiour" of sorts and I choose one that I have only found locally to Hawaii... specifically the island of Hawaii Tropical Dreams Ice Cream
By far, the very best ice cream I have ever eaten. The texture was creamy and soft yet firm enough to really taste whatever flavor is compliementing the perfection of ingridients. It melts as soon as it is scooped so it is difficult to appericate the simplistic amazement of the treat while devouring it so quickly.

Tahoe Creamery

This guy has a freaking DEGREE in Ice Cream! (He also catered my wedding, so I'm biased)

Seriously, his ice cream is the best I've ever had.

FWIW, I only like Mint Chocolate Cookie from Ben & Jerry's. In every place I've lived, Haagen Dazs ice cream bars have been good but not great, and overpriced, while the carton stuff has been terrible. I've never bought a carton of Haagen Dazs that wasn't a pile of icy crap. SOMETHING in their west coast distribution chain is seriously wrong if their cartons consistently thaw and re-freeze and I hold them responsible for that failure.

One of my problems is this: Where I live, you can drive out in the country and come accross a number of farms with stores that serve their own ice cream. It is almost always premium PLUS level creamy -- high in butterfat and devoid of guar gum like industrial fillers.

So far, so good! However, I am a choc-a-holic. This means, DARK CHOCOLATE. And, because these bumpkins have to buy their chocolate, and, because they ARE bumpkins, they almost never create a decent dark chocolate flavor. 🙁

Blue Bell Homestyle Vanilla, or French Vanilla.

Vanilla has a taste if you buy the good hard pack and not that soft serve crap.

Blue Bell when I lived in Texas but I have not been able to find it on the east or west coasts.
+1
Was introduced to it when I lived in the middle east, was kinda surprised to see it in the supermarket when I went down to visit my folks who moved to TX.

Locally here in DC, I like Moorenkos

Marketing hype or not, people would not continue to purchase a shitty ice cream.

I'm thinking New Coke and Crystal Pepsi for products that had huge hype and were rejected by consumers.
