So, a friend of mine told me I was crazy thinking that Ben & Jerry's is unquestionably better than Häagen Dazs. He claims that everyone knows that while Ben & Jerry's has the best unusual flavors and combinations, Häagen Dazs is acknowledged as the better ice cream.

Thing is, he's completely wrong. Is Ben & Jerry's the best ice cream, or are you insane like my friend?
If you're going to post that you prefer half-water reduced fat cheapo flavored frozen milk juice, this is not the thread for you. Serious connoisseurs only need apply.

Depends on the flavor. If that's up to me, I'd probably go for Homemade Brand Fried Ice Cream.

I don't know much about gourmet ice cream, but I like Friendly's ice creams (the ones in carton). :)

My dad lived near Ben & Jerry's during the 70's and he used to pass by their shop all the time. Also I grew up in close proximity to the factory, I have had a lot of good experiences with Ben & Jerry's as a company and as an ice cream. Personally I like them better mainly because they have a more homemade feel, while the Häagen Daz seems like a generic brand. It also helps that they have my favorite flavor: Half Baked. :p

I'd reply, but your unfathomable love of the marketing hype that's Ben & Jerry's sole claim to fame would render you incapable of understanding the answer. There are hundreds of better ice creams than that hippie crap, here's hoping to you growing up enough to someday figure that out for yourself.

A tad harsh for an ice cream thread, perhaps?

Geez, what a grump!

I'd refute your entire post without even trying, but your confused and inane dislike of everything that is good and pure in this world would just keep you from understanding the words. Maybe one day you'll realize that you'd be happier if you quit reacting against anything with a catchy slogan or pleasant packaging and judged ice cream based on its deliciousness.

Either Brigham's, or a local place called Mac's Dairy Farm.

I've always noticed that Haagen Daas is hard as a rock, and tends to bend spoons trying to scoop some out.

Recently discovered for me...really good, still comes in full 1/2 gal. containers, and there are at least 2 different flavors of banana.
