I started around 19 or so. When I realized it was happening I kind of freaked, more so than I'd probably like to remember. Tried to slow/stop/regrow with the "big 3" (propecia, minox, something else i dont recall), I did it for a few years with success but honestly got tired of wasting the $$ and time and was just an overall pain in the ass, not to mention don't like being on some prescription with chances of side effects. I came to grips with it and just started shaving my head down to a #2/#1 every few weeks and let it do its thing. Been doing that for 5 years or so, now I'm 28, thin and receding pretty bad but what can ya do.

Overall it made me get in better shape, lose some a few extra LBS and now i keep a beard/close shaven look ha.

My bro still has his hair and he's older than me, but I seem to got my mom's family side of things, only have a few male cousins on her side and they in same boat. All my mom's brothers same thing, as well as her dad.

Hair loss is easily prevented by taking testosterone blockers and estrogen.

Just like having blue eyes or being tall. Not like its a disease and never understood the angst over it (and I'm going bald). Not going to shave my head either. If I end up with a "fringe" I'll wear it proudly.

Noticeable near the end of college. I'm 26 now and have a noticeable thin spot at the top of my head.

I rather be taller and go bald than be shorter than 5 foot 8 with full lovely hair.

Anyone else feel this way?

All balding is premature, as far as I'm concerned. My hair started thinning in my early 20's, sadly.

Sheesh, starting to bald in your 20's is not early. That's pretty much typical.

Caused by high testosterone.
Are you pretty masculine looking? Most bald guys I know are.
High muscle mass, deep voice, hairy everywhere else, etc.

I'm 31 and no signs of baldness and my maternal grandfather is 80 and still has most of his hair, and my paternal ancestors going back to my great grandfather all had full heads of hear until they died so I'm pretty safe.

But I don't have a deep voice (I'm a tenor), very little body hair, and not much muscle mass so maybe there is something to your hypothesis lol..

Hairline began receding a few years ago at 20/21, although it's not thinning yet, and I have a grandfather who had similar recession around that age who didn't really have too much baldness until his early 60's.

EDIT: Forgot to add that I look terrible whenever my combed hair gets a little messy, causing a thin patch falling straight down my forehead all alone. :'(

I wouldn't call it typical, although it's not unheard of.

I'm just happy that I made it this far with all my hair and without the need for glasses.
