Premature balding? If so, what age did it start?

Hey all,

Who started going bald at a REAL early age here? I notice people like Prince William and Anand (our high Lord) started at an early age🙁

Sometimes I think people are older than myself (40 years) or close to my age due to baldness only to find out they are sometimes 10 years younger or more.

Mine is strange, it only really recedes on my right side but it started probably when I was about 27ish. I think it looks terrible but my wife says I'm the only one that really notices it. She is obviously lying.

I started losing hair aged 20 approximately, though only I noticed it through the amount of hair being left behind after showering. I started shaving my head about a year ago (age 32), because my other choices were a comb-over, look like my dad, or buy a wig.

Nope. Given my family, probably not going to go bald at all.

I look almost exactly like my dad: if I follow him I'll still have a full head of brown hair when I'm 60. Although I've heard hair tends to follow maternal grandfather: if that's the case, I'll still have a full head of hair, but it will start going grey any time now (I'm in my early 30s) and will be pretty solidly white by 60. (Compared to my father-in-law, who went grey at some point but it's stayed there, my grandfather went from grey to white relatively early.)

On the other hand, I had a friend in college whose family was also non-balding, but he started losing his hair at like age 24. So who knows.

I started balding at 23. 10 years later now and it's very advanced.

I knew I would go bald but I did not expect it so early.

I know a few people who started losing their hair in their 20's, kinda crazy.

I'm 27 and still have thick red hair so think I'm good for a while.

Caused by high testosterone.
Are you pretty masculine looking? Most bald guys I know are.
High muscle mass, deep voice, hairy everywhere else, etc.

Mine started going slowly since age 22-23, currently my hair is really thin and the top of my head is already almost bald, im 29 right now

Exact same here. Started when I was 22ish, and the top of my head is very little hair. I keep it buzzed down real short and it doesn't look too bad, I expect to be shaving it before too long. I'm also 29 (or will be in a couple weeks).

18 for me. The top is getting thinner and thinner. It's sucks god dammit.

Now where is that DNA stem cell treatment they promised 10 years ago?

All males in my family went bald / balding early. My mothers brother started in his 20's.
My father and uncle both were balding. Receding hair and bald spot. The thing i find odd is given that heritage i still have my hair. And seeing that i will be 56 in October i doubt i will loose it now. So i guess i skipped that gene, either that or my mother had an affair with the milkman 🙂

I went to prison when I was 18. The stress I was under for the two years I spent in prison made me get a receding hair line. I'm now 32 and my hairline has not receded any further than it has been. All of my hair loss happened during those two years. I still have a respectable amount of hair though so I'm lucky.

Ehh, I've had some grey since early 20s. A little bald spot starting in my 30s.

Guy at work who's a couple years younger than me got hit with baldness really bad, he's only 31 and he has pretty much no hair on the top of his head, only the sides and back.

Why is there no cure yet? You would think that pharmaceutical companies would consider this a top priority. The money to be made would be immense.

Yea I'm forced to agree.

Since women don't really go bald (at least nowhere near at the rate men do or with the same trademark male pattern) - I'm forced to conclude that men who don't go bald are just that many steps closer to being women.

()🙂

Started thinning at 20 or 21. Gone enough by 24 that I had to start strategic combing. Shaved it all off by 24.5 -- got sick of "going bald".

I never did the strategic combing. it just never looked good. but i admit it took far to long to figure out keeping it short is better then having long balding hair.

😀

my avatar? yeah that's pretty much me but with a grey beard.

I could see it coming in my mid 20's. A real thin spot but by 30 it was thin enough on top that I just shaved it off and now I pretty much just keep it really short in winter and shave it in summer.
Though luckily the shaved head look is pretty popular. The key is just never let yourself get self conscious about it.

The balding or the shaved head?

I love the shaved head... Take my hat off and suddenly people look at me differently -- like I might beat them. That or I'm crazy.
