Now for the interesting bit ... the clerk tells me that Sprint/BB/RS ordered 7 million of them in one shot!

Brian

If the Evo is ANYTHING close to the specs, speeds and performance that the videos etc show, it's a killer phone... and a sign of things to come in the world of high performance smartphones

how does pre-ordering at BB work when you need to upgrade from a voice to a data plan and renew your sprint contract (assuming you don't want to pay the full, no-contract retail price of the phone)?

As long as you arent on SERO or EPRP they can do it for you.

boo

If you ARE on SERO or EPRP, call *2 from your phone, and you should be connected to employee customer service. Change your plan with them, hang up, drive to BB or Radio Shack.

Keep in mind employee customer service is M-F.

edit: I just re-read your original comment. you stated if you need to change from voice to data...if youre already on SERO or EPRP, you have data. What am I missing here?

Current SERO peeps cannot get any of the new phones. The best you can get is the Touch Pro 2.

If I wanted to get the EVO I would have to drop my current SERO 500, and go with the 500 Everything plan plus the 4G charge.

This EVO phone has me thinking. My SERO plan is up in July. I like the EVO, but I also like my $30 a month plan too. Decisions, decisions.

So to get full functionality out of the EVO you need:

- At least the $59.99 EPRP 500 plan
- + $10 extra for 4G
- + $29.99 to get the wifi router feature

Am I missing anything else? That's an expensive plan. Can you pay month-to-month for the wifi router feature or is it something you have to add to your place for the duration of its contract?

I'm on the $30/month SERO plan... my understanding is that SERO is no more and has limited phone support, but the empoyee-referral plans are still available via EPRP so I'd have to first switch from SERO to EPRP (which I'm guessing has to be done over the phone since I'm not seeing an eprp option using the normal "upgrade my plan" feature on sprint's website) before I can think about getting a more robust phone.

Yeah you have to call. Before you do that, check and see if your employer has a discount with Sprint - if it's 15% or more, it's cheaper to get a normal Everything Data plan and then you won't have to deal with some of the hassles of EPRP.

I never said you could :) But you CAN on EPRP (the new SERO). I like my $30 SERO plan also; however, after a few motnhs with the TP2, Im just not feeling it. We'll see though. Either way I'll keep my TP2 because I travel out of country often and use it overseas.

Correct. Its not that SERO/EPRP has limited support, its that employee customer service isnt 24x7. Its M-F (I believe) 7am-9pm PST. So if youre thinking about the EVO, just call *2 and have them switch you to EPRP before you get the phone. Or order it from them when you switch your plan, either way.

I work in a bunker and get no cellphone reception inside my office. haha.

lol

I can get you a direct number tonite when I get home if you need it. PM me later if you do. You should be able to find it online ...or I think I saw one posted earlier.

edit: for SERO you can call telesales 888-503-3078 and they can switch you to EPRP and order the phone for you.

So what's the deal with current EPRP members? I've been out of contract for a while. What's the best way to get the EVO and can I get it for the $199 price?

my understanding is yes, as long as you're eligible for a phone upgrade anyways.

I may have to take a trip to West Hollywood today (the closest BB). Or Culver City. WH being a more pain in the ass, because of the traffic ;)

argh

I wanna go and order one, sign up on a new everything data plan for $69 (well, $79).

But, my family plan with ATT isn't up til mid-july. I'd much rather be on another family plan with sprint to save money (my dad would pay most of the bill, I'd just pay the +data addon plus $10/mo for the extra line)

Would I be able to go order an EVO now on a plan by myself, then upgrade my contract to a family plan with my dad in a couple months? I realize I'd lose my number doing this, which isn't a problem.
