Is it wrong of me that I want this phone when:

A) I've never had Sprint as a service provider. I've used everyone but Sprint.
B) I have a 2 week old HTC Incredible which is virtually the same damn thing as the EVO save a few features here and there.
C) I still have a Motorola Droid collecting dust on my desk at home. I need to get rid of this thing.
D) I don't even get that many phone calls at all.

WTF is wrong with me? D:

A) Sprint is great. Easily on par with or even better than Verizon now that I've had my Droid for a while.

B) Yes, you're crazy. 4G is all but useless to select city folks

C) Sell it.

D) Get a life.

Damn I guess I shouldn't feel as bad then. I have resisted buying the iPad several times though and I've owned probably every "major" released smartphone except the HD2.

Sprint does have a 30 day trial period where I can try it out the EVO and just cancel everything and get all my money back if I don't like it. I may give this a shot.

D) Get a life.

Great advice, thanks.

I'm not a huge fan, random freezes, supposedly an update is on it's way...

I gotta call Sprint and switch my SERO to EPRP before I go pre-order. :p Hopefully BB does their usual deal and just has the instant rebate.

Has anyone had an experience getting BB to upgrade a EPRP plan?

They will. They don't do mail-in rebates at all at Best Buy anymore. Makes them a great option on cellphones since the carrier stores all still annoyingly include a $100 MIR with their prices.

I gotta ask. How is it you guys have multiple smartphones from different carriers yet hardly make phone calls? Doesn't that mean you have multiple phone numbers and are either buying these phones unlocked (expensive) or breaking contract agreements (expensive)?

I buy unlock/contract-free and I usually sell my previous phone for about the same as what I bought the new one for. I usually break even. As far as making actual calls, I'm required to have a phone due to where I work but I usually use my phone for emails and texting.

You can do this? I thought for EPRP you had to go through its website? I'm not going to switch to sprint until Sept, so I was hoping EVO would be on EPRP's website by then, but they usually require the stupid $100 rebate. But, you can buy at Best Buy and change to EPRP?

I need to do the same. And, I havent had a problem with SERO, so I wouldnt think doing it with EPRP would be a problem.

Rofl you're hopeless man.
I'm almost the same way, but in this case, there's no way I'm going with Sprint just to get an Evo, especially when I have a VZW Incredible now.

How good is Sprint coverage? Is it at least as good as T-Mobile? It seems like a third tier provider even though you wouldn't think so with the press they've been generating with this new phone.

Nothing is wrong with you.
Once you're used to the 4.3" screen, you can't go back.
I've compared both in person and while the 3.7" is large compared to everything else, its puny next to the HD2.
I just left Sprint 1.5 months ago for the HD2 and I'm planning to jump back.
ONly thats pissing me off is the added $10. (its the principle of thng dammit).

Just from my personal experience, its much better than T-Mobile.
I've had Sprint for yrs and I use my phone to tether to my laptops when I travel and its pretty damm fast.( I live in Orlando)
I've been with T-Mobile for 1.5 months now and 3G is very spotty.

i'm on sprint, the coverage is easily WAY better than T-Mobiles. The best part about this is the free roaming to Verizon's network. Now if you ask about metroPCS... that's a different story...

Well this doesn't help at all. :D. I'm going to go to Best Buy and possibly Sprint tomorrow to see how their network fares in my area.

Here's my story...

I've been working in Dallas and my schedule had me returning back home to Salt Lake City today so I figured I'd hit the local Best Buy to pre-order the Evo. So, my flight is late due to weather in Dallas and when I get to the Best Buy and ask about pre-ordering the first clerk looked at me funny and the second clerk stepped in to tell me that they don't sell sprint and won't get the Evo. I say, "OK, where's the nearest Best Buy that will get it" and the response was "St. George" which is like 200 miles away! Bumber!!!

OK, so I stop to eat and then decide to check out the local Radio Shack on the odd chance they will get it. I get there about 7PM and the clerk was quick to tell me that they will be getting it and we begin the pre-order dance. $50 deposit on a gift card as well as a sheet of paper with my particulars and I'm number two in line at this store and set for 6/4.

Now for the interesting bit ... the clerk tells me that Sprint/BB/RS ordered 7 million of them in one shot!
