I'll go in for $10, plus a few coins for Vivi who spent so much time doing this and the previous ones. You should do the same.

Thanks Vivi, you have two payments from me, one for $10 and one with a couple of bucks to cover the cc fees that I didn't add to the first.

Absolutely nothing against Vivimage, I participated in this twice and he's been amazing.

But you guys know that it would be an absolute legal hell if we won, right?

So so so many ways it could go wrong. Not even from the Vivi, but participants as well as people that didn't participate.

what are the legal implications from those that didn't participate? makes no sense. It's not like this is Norway where you probably could claim some sort of social service stipend for "missing out" on some non-associated random people winning the lotto and you didn't...

as it is--I think people should stop posting here about it like the last dozen or so confirmations.

This isn't an ATOT thing and is offsite, so yeah--there could be legal issues with AT, which is why it isn't AT. Posting more than ViVi's initial announcement should be verboten, imo.

I don't think there's a legal issue for those not participating (that doesn't make any sense) but from the legal stuff I've read up on online pools they don't seem to be very kosher. At the worst nothing that is done online counts as a contract, and if whoever won ran off with the money there's nothing we can do about it... because it's their ticket.

So you say....:sneaky:

😛

How do you even find the right ticket in a pile of 5 million?
It's 2016. There are these things called computers, scanners, and optical character recognition. Self-feeding scanner, beep when it's a winner (else send the winning ticket to a different bin).

Even then it doesn't work really.

Tickets are $2 each I think (never played, so not sure but that's what I have been told). It would cost around 584 million to buy every combination. According to the Powerball site, the cash payout on 1.3 billion is right around 800 million. Take 50% for taxes leaves you just over 400 million left. You would have lost over 100 million when all is said and done.

Perhaps taking the yearly payouts would result in a net gain.

Unless I'm mistaken, you can deduct gambling losses against your wins when playing the lottery - you need receipts though, not just the losing tickets. Don't forget the 25 tickets with all the numbers matching except the powerball, and all the tickets with 4 numbers + powerball, 3 numbers + powerball, etc. The overall odds are 1 in 24.87. Therefore, you'll have nearly 11.75 MILLION tickets that win at least a couple dollars. And, not to mention, the total jackpot would go up as a result of your spending nearly 600 million on tickets.

Taking the yearly payouts wouldn't result in a net gain - the cash value is what it would cost for an annuity that would pay out that amount of money over 30 years. That is, the amount before taxes is what it would cost to get the 1.3 billion over 30 years (which is taxed). In other words, that's the amount that would need to be invested with a moderate amount of interest in order to yield the full value of the prize.

and the combined eyeballs of 100 atoters. and a spreadsheet.

Incidentally, if you purchase EVERY possible combination, in addition to winning the jackpot, you're guaranteed to win nearly $93,469,000 from your other non jackpot tickets. 11.75 million of your tickets will win at least something.

Yeah, again, this is not endorsed by AT. I could screw you guys, but IF we win, I can't imagine what i'd want to do with that much money, so i'd rather spread the hookers n blow like a good AT citizen. Plus, a few of you have my address, and other stuff, so I am not planning on it 😉.

I like doing it because it adds to the fun.

assuming no one else wins, otherwise you gotta share it!

For over a billion dollars there isn't anywhere that he could hide from ATOT so I wouldn't be too concerned. A smaller winning and he could probably slip under the radar but if he posts the numbers online beforehand even that would be hard.

Vivi's not the one I'm worried about. It only takes one ATOT asshat to file a suit and cause a major headache for everyone.

Didn't think of this but good idea.

EDIT
Sent a few bucks to help with costs.
