xxxx: I'm not sure.
*** Auto-response sent to sunshinedmb: I am currently away from the computer.
xxxx: i'm doing my best to find out.
xxxx: the only thing i KNOW is that nothing natural would cause the grid to fail.

The switches and breakers are well over 50 years old.

The news channels need to say when they have these security consultants on preaching "gloom and doom" they're only drumming up business for themselves.

Lost my 130day uptime here in CT. Was over 2 hours, backup power just couldn't cut it.

global news said earlier that the prime minister's office issued a statement saying a lightning strike hit something on niagara mohawk's generating station on the american side of niagara falls. i find that statement quite queer, considering it's sunny and 30*C out with no chance of rain here.

I live in Rockland county and we just got power back, I think a lot of other places got power back as well. The word was, like Pepsi said, that a lightning strike hit the Niagara power plant

Best quote from a news article about this:

"TORONTO (CP) -- At 5:16 p.m. ET on Nov. 9, 1965, the lights began to wink out in Ontario and soon after all along the eastern seaboard. And they stayed off in many areas, including Manhattan, for up to 13 hours.

People turning to portable radios heard sour-sounding music as stations played records on rough back-up power systems. Commuters were stranded, suppers ruined and nine months later there was a noticeable increase in babies born in the affected area."
