All u can eat sushi in northern NJ. Mr Sushi in Lincoln park.
19.99, all u can eat peices and rolls, including the exotic 9expensive rools) like spider (soft shell crab tempura), Rainbow rolls, samurai rolls, etc. VERY VERY good quality and always fresh. Take it from a man who has eaten sushi at over 100 rest. in the metro NYC area.
It isnt Nobu by any means, but it isnt 175 per person either :)

In my (oh so) humble opinion on #3: Would you like to eat sushi that has been sitting out since Wednesday?
(actually many "sushi" places are an addition to japanese steakhouses. the biggest and busiest crowds are on the weekends. And monday is a particularly slow business-day for restaurants anyway. - but I'm just guessing here.)

there is an all you can eat buffet in Raleigh, NC for $9 and 'Shiki Sushi', across the highway from the Streets of Southpoint mall in Durham, has a lot of coupons in the Durham phonebooks.

Fact: Tamago (omlet) is a waste of time and money.

Not at fact, but somethings to say to impress your Japanese-speaking sushi chef: *spelled phonetically here*
[Insert sushi item here, like "taco"] oh kuh-dah-sigh - I want octopus. (or, other sushi item)
[Insert sushi item here, like "tamago"] wah hoshi-koo-nigh!!! - I DON"T want omlet. (or, other sushi item)
Kee-day dess nah - It (meaning the sushi dish) is beautiful!
Go-chee-soh sama-deshda! - Thank you for the meal!

A couple good Bay Area sushi places I frequent:

1) Kirala in Berkeley - probably a little too pricy for students, but very good and very high quality. Make sure to get the lobster tails (robata)
2) Miyage's in Palo Alto near Stanfurd - a unique experience... there's disco lights and music going on and people stand up on their chairs and do "sake bombs"
3) Almost every restaurant in Japantown in San Francisco - their names escape me, but every little restaurant in that plaza is good and inexpensive as well.
