im a metal fan, but i can't understand the appeal of death metal. i can't understan what he's saying, and there is not much melody.

jjyiz28, I'm with ya. I just don't get death, black, whatever metal. I've been listening to rock/metal since ozzy/kiss/black sabbath days and I do like Slayer, Slipnot, and bands like that but I don't get the death metal stuff.

There is melody in Death Metal. Either you just can't hear it or you're listening to the wrong bands. Morbid Angel, Deicide, Luciferion, Decapitated, Vital Remains... to name few. The more grindcore influenced Death Metal bands like Aborted usually just play so damn fast it's hard to find the melodies.
