All cabling done by yours truly... now that I look back at it, I can't believe my boss actually let me do all this crap! It looks roughly the same, except we have added about 6 more rackmounted servers. Over the Christmas holiday my boss and I are going to be spending a few nights cleaning it up a bit more. Right now it's a 100x better than the room it was in before we made the move. I've learned a few things over the past year, so it should look a little better (and I will have picks of the update).
Main rack 7200, 3 x 2924, 1 x 2948G, 3600, T1, 4 x 24 port patchpanels
Back of patch panels For my first attempt at structured cabling I think I did ok
Angled shot of switches This could be a bit cleaner... the bottom switch has been moved back so thecables aren't so strained.
The servers It's a crappy pic, but it sort of shows the servers. We are going all rackmount now.
In the last pic you can see that I have 24 port patch panels at the top of each rack. I don't like how I have the patch cables going down then around to the back. I am planning on
purchasing some longer cables and going up instead. There is a gap between the top rails and the top of the rack, so I think I could route the cables around there and then move down
the side of the rack. I also want to get some proper vertical management for the main rack with the switches.
Going to be an all nighter or two to do this. We want to have no more than 5 minutes downtime per server.
