I've got pretty much the same; cable modem, 8-port switch, and a residential gateway. No pics though - no digicam.
What did you use for the pic there, Paulson?

I have that same switch and a linksys wireless access point, and neither one puts out any serious heat.

The styrofoam blocks are a little overkill me thinks.

That wiring is not the cleanest, but managable. I've seen far worse wiring, trust me! :)
Heh so have I :) I'd like to keep it a bit neather, but its usually changing quite a bit so I try not to spend too much time on the wiring. As long as they can be traced I'm happy

I had borrowed a digital camera and wanted to take some pictures of stuff I found interesting... that's why I did it...

An olympus camera, can't remember the model...

They do get hot, believe me, I know. I'm comfortable with it the way it is, that way nothing gets too hott and everything is about where it should be temp wise.

damn what I wouldn't give to have something like that...

Probably wouldn't want it when you need to trace a wire to somewhere... :Q

All cabling done by yours truly... now that I look back at it, I can't believe my boss actually let me do all this crap! It looks roughly the same, except we have added about 6 more rackmounted servers. Over the Christmas holiday my boss and I are going to be spending a few nights cleaning it up a bit more. Right now it's a 100x better than the room it was in before we made the move. I've learned a few things over the past year, so it should look a little better (and I will have picks of the update).

Main rack 7200, 3 x 2924, 1 x 2948G, 3600, T1, 4 x 24 port patchpanels
Back of patch panels For my first attempt at structured cabling I think I did ok
Angled shot of switches This could be a bit cleaner... the bottom switch has been moved back so thecables aren't so strained.
The servers It's a crappy pic, but it sort of shows the servers. We are going all rackmount now.

In the last pic you can see that I have 24 port patch panels at the top of each rack. I don't like how I have the patch cables going down then around to the back. I am planning on
purchasing some longer cables and going up instead. There is a gap between the top rails and the top of the rack, so I think I could route the cables around there and then move down
the side of the rack. I also want to get some proper vertical management for the main rack with the switches.

Going to be an all nighter or two to do this. We want to have no more than 5 minutes downtime per server.

The pic is of our most of our network ports and stuff at work. 350 or so cubes, each with 3 jacks in the (LAN, Phone, Misc). All kinds of fun stuff. And YES, it's lots of fun having to trace a wire. It's called grab and end and yank really hard. :)

I used to do a lot of work for cablevision in Waco,TX they had about the same number of users, Fox and Hound rig comes in real handy. Some good quality ($600&^) cable/lan tester/analyzers can do this as well. Saves hours over trying to trace by hand or link lights.

Paulson, if I had a new toy I'd a probly done the same thing. But then again I am board most of the time, I just sit around the house most of the day waiting to be paged on a field call.

I'd love to see pics of spidey's net ... sure, it'd probably be a nationwide map, but knowing the kind of quality that he is, just some NOC shots would probably be pretty impressive.

You must be joking... My network is so mickey mouse and small... unless it was in an article on what you don't want your network to look like :p

N11, is that all your data center or is that a co-location facility? Or do you do co-lo as well?

Tallgeese has some awesome pics too! I think I still got the pics of his network, but I won't post them unless he says it's ok.

That's our portland segment within Time Warner's portland hub. It's kind of outdated, ripping things apart to make room for a new series of Dell cabinets to replace those old telco ones.

edit: Yes we offer colo.

That's so true. I'm glad I'm not the only one that "yanks" cabling to see which end moves across the room! LOL!

cool...

anybody else going to share their network pics...

I kinda feel stupid now considering how I just had a little home network and most of you run huge ass networks...
