Just showed this pic to my son

Him: awwwww, huskies
Me: No, they're German Shephards
Him: German Shephards? Why does he have them?
Me: They're good dogs
Him: Uhn uh, they'll eat you
Me: 😵 No they won't
Him: Well, if they have German Shepards, then they are German people
Me: 😵😵

Haha that's hilarious. By brother has a GSD/Doberman mix and she's just about the sweetest dog in the world...if you're ok (my brother, his wife, their daughter, or anyone else invited in). We came up to the door one time I hadn't seen her in over a year and she didn't see my brother with us...that was scary. If she wasn't behind a door she would have ripped me apart.

Great, great dogs.

My wife really wants a dog, but I'm worried about our new leather furniture. Any recommendations on breeds that don't chew/scratch up furniture, or ways to handle nails and teeth?

Pretty much anything in puppy stage is going to scratch and bite. Get an older dog and train them to stay off the furniture and you'll be fine.

Not only can I do pictures, but I can do

EPIC MUSIC VIDEO TOO

that was epic

Is that the Everlasting Fun Ball? I just ordered one of those for our pups to help keep them entertained. That and a Squirrel Dude. How do you like the fun ball?

It is the fun ball and honestly they have been awesome. My dog has such powerful jaws it took me a while to find something he wouldn't destroy. Started with tennis balls and they were gone in seconds. "Tough" tennis balls (made for dogs) were gone in minutes. Moved on to Kong Balls and he chews through those.

Finally found the fun ball and he hasn't destroyed one yet. I think because it is hallow and has so much give. And he loves them. I have bought 4 actually.

Cool I may have to get another so each dog can have their own. Our shepherd is a powerful chewer, but he's gotten more laid back and doesn't destroy things he shouldn't anymore when we aren't home. Or lab mix on the other hand is in the destructo stage, so I'm hoping this keeps her entertained during the day since her brother (the shepherd) apparently doesn't.

I am curious why you went with another large breed when it was obvious another family knew how to take care of the dog?

All I know is I am at dog park everyday and I have my own backyard.

they didn't know how to take care of the dog. they just lucked out, i guess. that and the mother of the household runs a business from home so she's always there with him with her eye on him.

we tried everything to break his chewing habit. nothing worked. we had trainers and everything. nothing broke his habit. as soon as you turned your back, he was right back to chewing stuff. my gf just couldn't handle it anymore and i wasn't gonna continue fighting with her about it, so i found him the best home i possibly could.

probably just needed a quick spine adjustment. Wouldn't that have fixed the problem?
😛

lol believe it or not, there's BIG money in animal adjusting... especially equine chiropractic. elite racehorse owners get their horses adjusted. i had a friend who was looking into doing that because she's a HUUUGE horse fan. she grew up on a farm in north dakota and was always around horses. she likes horses more than she likes people... her motto: "if it doesn't nay, i don't give a shit how it feels".

Enzo..... The art of racing in the rain?

nope. just a nice neapolitan name for a neapolitan mastiff.

the irony is that i chose his name and found out that the name our friends gave him before they gave him to us was larry. enzo = italian for larry... lorenzo = lawrence... enzo = larry

i thought that was really cool and coincidental 🙂

Another good ball for dogs is Orbee-Tuff® Ball with Rope..... great thing about it is it also floats.

My lab only goes through one a year.

One of our 7 month old puppies, Maggie (see the OP), came down with a bad case of shakes and threw up this a.m. I took her to the vet immediately and they have kept her since then for for blood tests and observation. Nothing looks sadder than a sick puppy.

Later in the day the report was that the vet was pretty sure it is some toxin she ingested (probably in the backyard this a.m.) or, less likely, something neurological. If she did not improve soon, we get to go to a doggy neurologist.

Just now, I was informed that Maggie is doing better on a second anti-siezure med, but she is not eating or peeing yet. We are probably picking her up at the end of the day, but she may need to go to a nuero at another time if she does not get back to 100% normal soon. Bets are it was something she ate.

Maggie spent the night at a pet hospital for observation. We did not get any calls in the night, so I assume that is a good thing. I am picking her up at 7:30 a.m. and, hopefully, bringing her home rather than back to the 1st vet for further observation.

Good luck man. Hope she's ok.

Maggie is back home now and appears to be totally normal. Hopefully, whatever caused this has worked its way out of her system and that will be the end of it.

My lab only goes through one a year.

Only problem is that my dog undoes ropes. He'll use his little teeth to pick at the threads until there is a mess everywhere. And then he eats some of the threads and poops them out 😛

I have some pull ropes for him but have to put them up most of the time. Can't leave them out.

We take the rope off before Jake gets it. The ball with the rope is all one piece and the one without the rope has the land masses as separate pieces… hope that makes sense.

These guys make the best dog toys .. my dog has destroyed every toy known to man, even a tire off CAT equipment...but for some reason, these last : http://www.westpawdesign.com/ ... we have two Hucks, and two Hurleys, and she hasn't destroyed them in the 9 months we've owned them.

Sweet dog datalink, husky mix?? My dog destroyed that ball within days, haha. they said it was almost impossible, but my dog is pretty pwoerful.

Found a few more pictures ... at the farm :
