TheWart mentioned Easycleaner as a registry cleaner. It also has a nice graphic space-usage feature - it helps you track down what files or folders are taking up all your disk space.

Don't know if this feature was mentioned already - we STILL don't have full-text search here.:(

Just found this too, for Electronics people who can't afford expensive CAD software:
Free, basic electronics schematic and PCB design software

Heres a handy little program that scans your computer and tells you just about everythin you could possibly want to know about it. I needed to know my specific mobo manufacturer and number...
It tells all hardware specs, whats installed. All software including windows updates and hotfixes.
Basically its neat to see what all you've got... check it out

I coulda sworn someone woulda mentioned these by now...

IZarc -- file compression utility that supports lots of formats including the rare, but efficient 7z format.
JetAudio -- media player that will play RM files as well as avis, mpegs, and mp3s as well as having built in filetype conversion, audio broadcasting features, and burning features.

Go to www.grisoft.com and get AVG anti-virus.

Features:
-Up to date virus definition updates.
-Scans real-time, web, and e-mails.
-Small footprint and very fast.

I have been using this anti-virus app for a while now. I can't believe they offer such a nice anti-virus program with updates for all the latest viruses for free. AWESOME app!
Warning: This program did not pass the VB100's annual test on viruses in the wild. Currently it will NOT protect you from the latest viruses. So be careful.

I was searching for a cool development tool for Linux and came acros GAMBAS. Amazing program. The GAMBAS GUI itself is written in Gambas (controls and compiler code in C). I could build the source in Fedora-1, with no problem. Make sure you install PostgreSQL before that, so that you can try database applications also. Browse though the GAMBAS Gui project itself to see the power of GAMBAS script. There is one more real world application - "Gambas Database Manager". Simply amazing!! (It is currently at version 0.84 - and is already very usable).
