Possibly the most important science breakthrough happened today (not really)

This is different. For reals.
Edit: Lookup some of the interviews with Rossi on YT or the Internet.
Have you invested your retirement with Mr. Rossi? You need to. Some lessons can only be learned by sitting in the front row.

Earlier, you said it's not a scam because he wasn't asking for investment money.

Yep, this is different now. He's now asking for money. This is a scam... for reals.

edit: btw, thanks. I teach physics. Every year, I look for a handful of examples of utter crap being marketed as "real." I do my best to teach students to be skeptical about novel inventions & what constitutes adequate evidence. You've provided a perfect example of what a foolish person looks like. How foolish, I don't know. There's still the chance that this has been one long troll for the sake of annoying the handful of us who are certain beyond any reasonable doubt that this is a scam. So, if you really believe in it, let's see you invest some money in it - let's see the cancelled check.

I'm shocked to find that you are still "updating" this thread!

Your desire to believe in Rossi/LENR is stronger than Linus's belief in the Great Pumpkin (and less well founded).

You have clearly become a convert to the LENRist religion and worship at the feet of its high priest Rossi!

i think it has a lot to do with people not being able to comprehend just how much knowledge mankind has. i know im still impressed regularly... and when promising claims come out i always hold hope. however, once a period of time passes and that idea has not exploded to the scene all over the world you know its either not practical or total bullshit, and this definitely seems like the latter.

more like tunnel vision or willful ignorance.

New Developments:
Defkalion (Rossi's clone) claims of independent testing:
http://youtu.be/VvmWGeryKQc
and
http://youtu.be/yax8oHzlXkI

Pdf of the test procedure is here (singed by Michael Nelson -a NASA employee http://www.linkedin.com/pub/michael-nelson/a/30a/468):

A summary of the visit - written by MR. Nelson is here:

Here is a recent Forbs article that goes over the recent LENR developments :

Here is a very recent Popular Science article about Rossi's apparatus (widely ridiculed here) :

Italy, the land where scientists are convicted of manslaughter because they didn't warn people enough.

And then there is this...

I'm shocked once again to find that you are still "updating" this thread!

I found this "new development" to be the most entertaining. The page footer:
***Extremely Confidential***

Defkalion Proprietary Information

is funny enough for something posted on the internet, but the admission by Nelson (on page 13):

"Even though I did not see a demonstration of this technology
I do feel that they have engineered this beyond anything Rossi showed us or Piantelli."
really takes the cake. We're still exactly where we started with LENR where your "proof" consists of the opinions of people (like Nelson) who want to believe so badly that they're willing to take Defkalion's "results" at face value.

I'm thinking we should plan an intervention for you... :\

Saw that on the news today lol, very pathetic. Is it even possibly to reliably predict an Earthquake? If they said there will be one but it turned out there was not then they'd get a sentence for wasting people's time... can't win.

nope. There is no reliable method of predicting earthquake. But apparently they are guilty of manslaughter because they told people to sleep in their houses and not to worry about earthquake...

There's a really long Popular Science article online today about this. Sounds like Rossi is possibly on to something, but is himself a scammer due to his lack of knowledge of how to proceed further scientifically.

LOL only hits for "Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project" are about the Rossi scam.

http://www.quantumheat.org/index.php/component/content/article/2-uncategorised/83-mfmp-intro
We need to raise the money to develop and distribute copies of this apparatus to ten research institutions around the world. Donate here.
Because in science, step 1 of investigation is to ask people for money.

From the popular science magazine:
Rossi isn’t the best ambassador for a field with credibility problems, though. In the ’80s, he invented a machine that magically transformed household garbage and industrial waste into oil—only it didn’t create a drop. Leaky storage tanks at Rossi’s “poison factory,” as one Italian newspaper called it, contained 77,000 tons of toxic sludge that cost $50 million to clean up. While under investigation for environmental crimes, Rossi was also charged with gold trafficking; he went to jail for six months and was later acquitted. As it happens, his engineering degree is from Kensington University, a notorious diploma mill shut down in 1996 by the state of California.

At least see the video...
There is no funding available for such a project. For now they are using their own funds. AFAIK. Me thinks that your bullshit meter needs recalibration.
And this has nothing to do with Rossi btw...

Follow the experiment here:

Videos are here:

These guys are very open. You can go on their website and ask them any question. You can also visit their lab. They are located close to twin cities in MN.

Btw, the first official try to independently replicate Prof. Celani's claims is set to start tomorrow at 9:00 am US eastern time. All equipment has been calibrated. There have been few test runs too. If the excess heat is there it will be found tomorrow...

No such funding? How are there research conferences for LENR?

I'm gonna venture a guess and say you have no academic research or science background, right?

I have an undergrad degree in computer science. But my background is irrelevant. How about your academic research or science background?

Wow, 1 year later and still no sign or proof of that 'scientific breakthrough' possibly happened that day as the OP mentions.
Hopefully that experiment tomorrow at 8 am will show something remotely close to it, but I don't see it ever happening. :whiste:

Thread title is very misleading.

What if Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR) really works?
