So it looks like the first wave of stores close on May 7th. About 60 stores are closing, the rest to follow a week or 2 later.

Finally found a deal. Microsoft and most other software is 40% off. Picked up Vista Ultimate Signature Upgrade for $155. Got this so I could install 64-bit Home Premium off it.

I'll check again next week and pick up some more if they fall to 50%.

Do you have a list of which stores are in that first wave? I'm specifically interested in Brighton, MA.

No Brighton.
Braintree, Woburn, and Framingham are on the list..

Sign at Rockville, MD location said only 13 days left. Snagged a copy of Vista Ultimate Upgrade that HeroOfPellinor and zephyrprime mentioned in another thread. Great deal for those looking to upgrade to Vista at some point.

Also almost snagged an XBox360 Premium for $200 and change. They only had one left, a floor display in the HDTV section. Asked a guy to look for the controller and he came back with a grin on his face and said another employee already bought it. I didn't raise a fuss over it or ask for a manager, not that it would've helped....I've got a feeling the inmates are running the asylum over there now.....

I was hoping to snag some wifi stuff for my house for cheap, I've been waiting and waiting for the true deals to show up. Still nothing yet at Roseville, MN. Networking is "20% off" (original list, as we all know), putting them on par with anywhere else.

We had a Gander Mountain (hunting / camping / fishing / outfitter supplies) move from one store to another about a year or two ago, they did it right - first week or two whole store 10% off, then 20%, then 30%, and it kept on going like that every week or two until everything disappeared. Wish CUSA would have followed that.

Oh well just ranting. For any MN people, I highly recommend not bothering going in, even now. I'd guess all stores are the same way.

(and I'm unfortunately bumping a thread to not tell anyone anything new. Sorry about that.)

Picked up iLife '06 at 40% for the used TiBook picked it up off of Craigslist for $350 earlier in the year. The only good deal I saw in the whole store.

As far as a new OS goes, if Im going Vista - should I just get 64 bit home premium?

Here is an OEM link from Frys - Link

Im going by one of the closing CompUSAs today to see if they have any marked down below this price, just want to make sure I get the right version. I guess I'll look on the microsoft site to see the differences b/n home and ultimate - but if anyone wants to chime in with an opinion or two I'd welcome it!

It obviously depends on what you plan to use it for however for gaming and such I don't think there is a real benefit to 64bit...

Framingham, MA store is getting hit pretty hard. I stopped in there this weekend. Bought Vista Retail at 40% off $130 something.

I also got an 1gb xd card for my sister's camera.. $19.99

Finally.. I'm starting to buy the things I've been holding.
Sharp 26" LCD HDTV for $250, Sprint A900 phone for $40, and Canon 75-300mm lens for $50.
Next up: Canon Rebel XTI and Macbook Pro...

The CompUSA near me as ~100 copies of Home basic upgrade and full at 70% off. I am tempted to buy them all. Upgrade is 23 bucks 😀

i got a msi k9n4-ultra-f mobo for 40.00 at the anaheim store. a budget mobo but a good price. store is pretty wiped out

Pleasanton, CA store had around 100 copies of Vista Basic at 10am. They were all gone by 5PM. 29.99 apiece after the 70% off. There isn't much left of anything.

Roseville, MN compusa had vista for 40% off all editions except ultimate, but they sold out the moment it was bumped to 50% off. Now they have home upgrade left for 60% off, lol.

I bought some memory for 60% off, meaning it was about 25% cheaper than online.

network cards and routers are 60% off, and computers are 40% off (all laptops sold already)

the store was extremely bare today when i got my memory.

its sad how i missed the vista sale though, i was too lazy to go in and buy it when i should have.
