I was recalling that also. One of the compusa store in san diego use to be a computer city store. I kinda remember buying a computer at computer city.Originally posted by: Elixer
Correct me if I am wrong, but most if not all of the stores were also former ComputerCity stores that CrapUSA bought out, and I expect the same crappy "liquidation sale" to be only a bargin when they are a week away from actually closing the stores. Other times, it is MSRP - 10-30% which can't match most online places (which is why they are getting rid of the stores in the first place.)
Closest store here was 60 mins away...now it will be 3 hours away. Oh well. No love loss here.
Since they are closing every store in this area, transferring junk into the store or good stuff out would probably cost more than it would be worth. I stopped by my local store this morning and everything was 10% off (cables and a few other items were discounted by 20%). I'm planning to go by there on Monday after the weekend rush and see what's left when they go for the next round of markdowns.Originally posted by: mikeford
In all the other liquidations I have seen all the old junk open box return merchandise out of the warehouse gets tossed into the mix. Any first quality stuff thats leftover will just go to the other stores or back to distributors. Some brans would rather take the product back instead of having it publicly discounted.

I remember the CompUSA store near my place in Torrance, CA closed a few months back-nearly everything in the store was 60% off. I bought about 5 games, a few case mods, and a new headset for half what they were worth. Its sad that they are closing, but then again, this means savings on your part. Definitely worth checking out.
I'm not too sad though-I got a Office Depot, Staples, Officemax, Best Buy, Circuit City, PCMall and a Fry's all within easy driving range.

As expected there was jack squat. I saw an Olevia LT32HVE marked down to 650 - 10% off yet the same tv is on the compusa site for $499. What bs.

All my stores will be closing which just sucks cause all we will have is Best Buy and Circuit City.

All of the other links that were posted said to look at the list of open stores and if your store is not on the list then it will be closing. The link above is a bit eaiser.

I'm surprised the one near me is not on the closing list. They never run Sunday newspaper ads anymore (at least in my area). I've been in the store maybe a half-dozen times in the last two years and it's been totally dead.
Remember when the annual springtime CompUSA anniversary sale was about the biggest tech sale of the year-bigger than Black Friday?
