Possible Deals, COMPUSA closing 128 stores.

Every liquidation sale Ive been to has always been crappy.....yet that never stops me from going again.

I was recalling that also. One of the compusa store in san diego use to be a computer city store. I kinda remember buying a computer at computer city.

The other downside is these aren't like "normal" retail purchases, no returns, no rebates. In all the other liquidations I have seen all the old junk open box return merchandise out of the warehouse gets tossed into the mix. Any first quality stuff thats leftover will just go to the other stores or back to distributors. Some brans would rather take the product back instead of having it publicly discounted.

Since they are closing every store in this area, transferring junk into the store or good stuff out would probably cost more than it would be worth. I stopped by my local store this morning and everything was 10% off (cables and a few other items were discounted by 20%). I'm planning to go by there on Monday after the weekend rush and see what's left when they go for the next round of markdowns.

I made a killing at the closeout sales at The Wiz when they went out of business. Near the end, they had things like 10/100 PCI and USB Ethernet adapters on sale for $1 a piece... and this was back in 2003!

I'm in the market for a Mac, so I'm going to keep an eye on Comp and see if there are any decent deals on those. Since there are rarely any discounts on the Macs (aside from the odd refurb at the Apple website clearance section), 20%-30% wouldn't be bad. They also had some decent prices on unlocked GSM cell phones over at the Totem Lake store in Kirkland, WA. They had a Nokia N80 for 20% off, which comes out to $460, which isn't bad for an unlocked phone that ought to have a full US warranty (the gray market ones you see on eBay typically don't have any warranty attached).

Now that Comp is gone, they seriously need to get a Fry's on the north end of the Seattle area. The trip down I-405 and back to home usually takes the hotness away from even their best deals.

i remember that sale and i'm from torrance. compusa had way too many stores since they had computer city AND good guys stores. ik now the westwood former goodguys / compusa closed and that torrance goodguys / compusa.

I was just in the Freehold NJ store and no good deals to be found yet. They are at about 20% off now with plenty of inventory..God thier prices are high, no wonder why they are going out of business.

Did get Microsoft One Care for $5.00 after rebate which is not too bad..

went to Mountlake Terrace, WA compusa today. It was up to 20%, but most items were 10%. Not much to note, except power adapters for notebooks were 20% off.

As expected there was jack squat. I saw an Olevia LT32HVE marked down to 650 - 10% off yet the same tv is on the compusa site for $499. What bs.

Yeah, I didn't see any bargains at the CompUSA in White Plains, NY either. Most of the stuff was only 10% off (the computers were only 5% off!), and all of the shelves were still full! No wonder, either... At this point, Staples and Office Max are still beating them with their normal pricing

well at least you have a circuit city. Here in Iowa City, all we got is a Best Buy. Nearest CompUSA is 2 1/2 hours away, the nearest MicroCenter is 4 hours away, and the nearest Fry's is 2-3 states away.

Went to the closing store in Glen Burnie, MD, and it blew.

On Compusa's Web site, a Targus universal 70w AC adapter is $49.99. This store had it for $69.99 - 20%. $55.99. What a joke.

picked up a Hauppauge HVR-1600. 10% off and a $10 mir. Pretty good deal.

warning: the receipt is stamped "ALL SALES ARE FINAL". So no returns folks. Make sure you really want it before you buy it.

In 1997 CCity was running a special for pay $120 for 32MB of RAM (2x16MB Fast Page Mode RAM) with a $120 rebate. Facking sweet

I went into the Woburn, MA store yesterday to check out the prices. Biggest crowd that I have ever seen in the store before lol. They advertised "up to 20% off" but most of the items had signs "10% off the ticketed price", especially the "big-ticket" items.
Anyway as others have said, even with the discounts thier prices are ridiculous!
I was looking for a Logitek G7 mouse, on the web they are priced in the $60.00+ range , B&M Circuit city has it for $70.00+.
CompUSA had it ticketed for an outrageous $99.99 so even with the 10%, where was the deal ?
No wonder they are closing, it is a shame that folks will lose thier jobs though

I'm surprised the one near me is not on the closing list. They never run Sunday newspaper ads anymore (at least in my area). I've been in the store maybe a half-dozen times in the last two years and it's been totally dead.

Remember when the annual springtime CompUSA anniversary sale was about the biggest tech sale of the year-bigger than Black Friday?

Who knows, I'm sure some online stores will bid to buy certain inventory. They do have some nice stuff though, Zalman coolers, antec cases and psu, etc. problem is that they will need to do like 75% off to be worthwhile, it seems like 50% off will just barely beat most onliine prices..plus there is no returns on anything bought.

All the ones near me are closing, probably because there is a best buy and circuit city within 10 miles. I think they are closing all the urban area stores like OfficeMax to get away from major competition.
