This could be interesting…

Also, I grew up right near Villanova. So I’m basically BFFs with the pope. Small world.
hehe. Wonder if that is a big F.U. to Trump?

The new Pope is a moderate reformer just like Pope Francis. Also like Pope Francis he has been a champion for social justice. This will be a continuation and possible expansion of Pope Francis reforms and ideas. Which isn’t a shocker because Pope Francis installed most of the cardinals that were eligible to vote.

Like I said... he won't be for long...

This makes me happy.

This won't end well but anything to put a scepter in the eye of the guy who thinks he is Jesus.

New pope did his undergrad in math. Libtard confirmed.

Pure or applied? Pure mathematicians are often a bit nuts (cf the Unabomber...plus Ayn Rand and Leon Trotsky were both really keen on maths in their youth)

Had a buddy that was doing undergrad math. That was one of the smartest, poorest, most autistic yet functional motherfuckers I have ever known in my life.

Like, who the actual fuck deliberately chooses to undergrad in math?

To this day I'm convinced it was all a ruse to get grant money to buy shitloads of crappy weed.

Hopefully pure. Applied math classes were a joke at my school. Numerical analysis class bored the shit out of me because you could derive everything in five minutes and then watching the prof slow walk through the derivation for the next 45 minutes would just make me want to go to sleep. Material itself was great but damn UCLA had so much lower expectations of their students in applied courses vs pure math.

Yeah but applied math is actually useful.

Math is awesome because you don't have to remember shit. My whole undegrad I refused to memorize any trig identities because most of the time you could just derive them really easily from e^{ix} = cos x + i sin x and the ones you couldn't were pretty easy to figure out just drawing vectors.

Nonsense - maths is great. Closest thing we've invented to actual magic. You do all these weird ritual incantations and arcane procedures and, abracadabra, you discover something useful about the real world!

But best stick to the applied stuff - the pure stuff seems to do people's heads in (the Unabomber being a prominent example, but even those I've known personally who were really into pure maths were mostly a bit...eccentric...same applies to serious chess players)

Don't be silly. Being good at math is not a mental disorder, it is just advanced following instructions. The cool thing about math is that it is all fully deterministic.
