Poor Danica, the truth hurts

Danica was pretty decent when racing Indycars, frequent top 10 runner, race winner, a shame she didn't stay there, in terms of racing that is, I'm sure she is making more money with Nascar,
 
Her schtick is "sexy NASCAR driver," not "good NASCAR driver," and it's only notable because NASCAR is remarkably and unabashedly white-male-dominated.

It's not like I could do what she does, but in a room full of people who can, the reason she stands out is either the fact that she's a woman, or the fact that she's a *wink* woman. As long as she's posing for maxim, she needs to admit its one and not the other, and own it.

true. but even then she is just as good as the majority. is she a top driver? no. is she teh worst? no.

only reason she is well known is she is a hot female driver.
 
I don't know why she's a dumb bitch, as you say. So she isn't the best driver in the history of racing. That doesn't mean she's horrible at what she does or deserves to be publicly humiliated. Yeah, it was a joke, but it was poor form given the circumstances in my opinion.

i agree with that. as the article said there were many in attendance worse then her.

but then again she chose to market herself in a certain way and while it pays off she should also take the negative. Though shit like that does not do nascar any good.

Ya, since when does glaring at a joke you don't like equate to "owned you dumb bitch"?

I don't watch the silly 'sport' of NASCAR, but I'd love to hear the OP's reasoning here.

Yeah she did really well, only 3 people behind her in points that ran all 36 races. All 3 of those drivers are with inferior teams.
 
It's not funny. If it had been said to any of the men that it could still be applied to in any other form of motor racing, it would STILL not be funny.
 
NASCAR is a bit of an unusual phenomena part sport, part entertainment.

One unusual aspect is that to be a driver, you have to be more than talented. You have to be able to attract sponsors. No sponsors, no ride. No ride, no races.

And like several other drivers, Danica attracts sponsors well in excess of her driving talent.

And despite NASCAR having declining TV ratings and ticket sales, they still managed to land an $8.2 billion dollar TV contract.

Does Danica help with the TV contracts and the sponsorships? I suspect that NASCAR thinks so...

Is that fair? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

My opinion is that Daytona is still a great spectacle but its not the spectacle that it used to be... NASCAR has made compromises to be as successful as they are now. It is however not clear that that success is sustainable.

I think she needs to lighten up. Even if joke directed at you isn't actually funny, you should at least have some good humor about yourself.
Nascar today sucks. It's sooo boring. I'd rather just watch some guys race cars that they tuned themselves, not see an overcrowded race track where clones go around the track for some points.
