Should be real cheap. The G6 and G5 will probable not hold their value real well but the G8 seems to have a large enough fan base.

But even then if you get it cheap enough it would still stand up based on what you paid, not MSRP.

Good God...unless you find a G8...your move from a Z4 to a G6 or G5 will be an epic disappointment.

Very interesting. There's a G8 GXP not too far from me. I wonder if that would be 46% off :). It would make it less than $23k, so I seriously doubt it. I wouldn't expect a whole lot more than $10k off of MSRP, which would be 46% off for some vehicles.

In practice I doubt many will see this and those who do perhaps a fleet sale buying ugly cars, no car anybody really wants is going to go for that much off.

Get a G8. The G5/G6 are decent cars, but you probably would still prefer your current vehicle. It still gets me that Pontiac got the axe just when they finally got their lineup such that it deserved the name Pontiac. :(

That's what pisses me off too. Pontiac was getting good again and then they killed it. To keep Buick of all things.

the worst part about it is they can't figure out how to tape a chevy badge over the pontiac badging in the G8.

i thought the G6 was a decent looking car and just about the right size, not huge, not tiny. even the convertible was nice looking. unfortunately unless you're infiniti you can't sustain a brand on 2 cars.

one good car in their lineup is too little too late.

This. It'd sell as a pimped out impala or something like that. OH how about the 'C8'

hahaha "up to" 46% off means the G5's that MSRP for $14,000 will have $6500 off which is a good deal on a shitty car

the G8 which msrp for over $30,000 only have $6,500 off which is not even 25%... and good luck finding one in stock in your area.

I wanted the G8 for $23g but that wasn't happening as I had to buy one with prem packages for $32 - $6500 which was $27,000+ and totally not worth it for a domestic GM car that's going to be inconvenient to service.. so I got a new infiniti G37 for $29g.. saved 20% off MSRP ($36,000). This car is a BEAST and has all the bells and whistles I could dream of.

Is this another account for Louisss/fleabag?

The G5 is just a cobalt. Basic but reliable car.

The G8 uses the same motors/trans as other current GM cars. So getting it serviced will not be “inconvenient”. And by GM domestic you mean Australian?

Yeah, I don't get the “inconvenient” bit myself. GM will have to honor the warranty, and like Marlin said, the parts under the hood are all GM products and should not have any issues regarding work to be done if needed.
I would still take the G8. It's more family friendly and has a sweet v8 to go along with it. Sorry, but that G37 rear seat isn't much better than a G35.
I WOULD compare the G8 to M35x/M45 Sport. Closer in size etc.

I did wish the G8 did have a bit more tech wrapped up in it. If it did, it would cost another 4-5k more though.

It is...but the Aura was a significantly better car than the G6.

The Aura came out after the G6 and was a update based on the same design family, epsilon, of the G6.

So think G6 - Aura - Malibu. Now Buick has a car off the same family line, LaCrosse, that is a little above the Malibu.

The G6 when it came out was a great car, esp when compared to what it replaced. It just got old and was never updated. So not a bad car just a older design that needed to be updated.

I wasn't necessarily saying the G6 was horrible...but the Aura definitely had a lot of improvements...especially inside IMHO. I've had both as rentals over the years and the Aura just comes across as a more sorted car. The Saturn Ion was an earlier version of the same platform the Chevy Cobalt was built on...and while the Cobalt was never great...it was definitely better than the Ion in my opinion. The G6 and the Aura have a similar relationship.

There is a Pontiac Torrent at the dealer by me for $18k instead of $27k. Tempted to talk to them to see what else they can knock off it.

I currently have 2 pontiacs and wouldn't mind trading one in if the price was right.
Hell my last 5 cars have all been Pontiac's...never had a mechanical issue with any of them.
