hahahah yeah no american cars ever had recalls or problems before.
if anyone here thinks american cars are anywhere near the japanese tier for build quality or reliability you are hopeless and don't know anything about cars.
on second thought, keep buying those GMs wouldn't want detroit to become any more third world status than it already is.
We've had these discussions before, you can't lump entire regions (American v. Japanese for example) as better/worse without looking at the details. Really you have to compare model by model, but even brand v. brand is going to make more sense.
It's pretty clear that overall, Dodge is down at the bottom of the heap. At the same time, I'd *MUCH* rather have the average new Ford or GM over a Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi has just been making junk for too long, just like Dodge. But, remember that detail above about actually needing model by model comparisons? Well, that's important, because Dodge trucks are actually very competitive. For example, I really like Nissan overall, but would rather get the new Ram over the outgoing Titan, it's just a better vehicle.
I am not going to agree to US vs. Japan making sense either way, too much has changed. 20 years ago it was no contest for the most part. Now the US makers have gotten extremely good with a lot of models, and the Japanese have slipped a lot overall with a lot of notable failures and diminished quality. Toyota stands out, I still respect them overall, but have you sat in a new Corolla or Camry? They're really cheaping out on the interiors, and the feature lists aren't that hot either. Nissan and Honda have them beat right now in most segments. Honda/Acura had a really costly period from the late 90s into early/mid 00s that had auto trannys dying constantly. Not a huge deal if you got it replaced with a redesigned unit under warranty/recall, but it's a bit of a black mark on the previously golden Honda reliability.
Bah, I could go on and on about it, but really just use some common sense and combine that with the ability to look at things with an independent mind. Fanboys and trolls for both sides are incredibly irritating and short-sighted, don't be part of that.
