Pontiacs for 40% off??

hahaha "up to" 46% off means the G5's that MSRP for $14,000 will have $6500 off which is a good deal on a shitty car

the G8 which msrp for over $30,000 only have $6,500 off which is not even 25%... and good luck finding one in stock in your area.

I wanted the G8 for $23g but that wasn't happening as I had to buy one with prem packages for $32 - $6500 which was $27,000+ and totally not worth it for a domestic GM car that's going to be inconvenient to service.. so I got a new infiniti G37 for $29g.. saved 20% off MSRP ($36,000). This car is a BEAST and has all the bells and whistles I could dream of.

What 😕

So Infiniti has to discount their cars 20% to make a sale. Doesn't speak to well about their quality and resale value.

everyone discounts cars 20% this time of year

in fact, my trade in value on a USED 09 with 13,000 is still $1500 more than i paid for a NEW car

infiniti is generous with their new car incentives.. nothing to do with resale value.

you realize the pontiac dealerships are closed so you will have to go to a buick/gmc dealership to service your car or whatever

and if you're like me i would hate to take a new car to a bunch of grease monkeys who work on buicks all day to service my G8

hahahaha. Just look at Toyota lately. Their 3rd gen prius is now having problem with the brakes where peole can't stop. Pretty top knotch quality.

hahahah yeah no american cars ever had recalls or problems before.

if anyone here thinks american cars are anywhere near the japanese tier for build quality or reliability you are hopeless and don't know anything about cars.

on second thought, keep buying those GMs wouldn't want detroit to become any more third world status than it already is.

Anyone that can't look at empirical data on either side of the argument might be retarded... including you or anyone else on this forum.

Please don't get the G6... It's a POC for a 2009 car. Competitive was bare competitive when introduced and now it's woefully behind. It's got a old-skool Fisher-Price interior that's comparable to the previous gen Malibu. I drive a '09 to work everyday (government car) and no it's not a stripper (It's got power everything and V6). The car has lifeless electric steering. Rough sounding engine. crappy gas mileage. The 4-banger is even worse as I had that in the '06. And wtf, who puts 4 speed autos in 2009? G8 OTOH... is a NICE car.

the worst part about it is they can't figure out how to tape a chevy badge over the pontiac badging in the G8.

i thought the G6 was a decent looking car and just about the right size, not huge, not tiny. even the convertible was nice looking. unfortunately unless you're infiniti you can't sustain a brand on 2 cars.

They have figured it out. They're taping the name Caprice over G8

They do have a G6 with:

* Engine, 3.6L Variable Valve Timing DOHC V6 SFI Engine, 3.6L Variable Valve Timing DOHC V6 SFI

* Transmission, 6-speed automatic, electronically controlled with overdrive

Available.

nope, that accord guy isn't me, but i don't disagree with him saying domestic cars are largely junk and i wouldn't give them a chance unless they made 20 years of high quality cars like toyota and honda since the 80's. I also want my car to be worth something after i drive it for a few years, even if i beat it up.

for a new pontiac, if i were in the market, i'd pay... 50% off msrp without tax or any other charges. This is for the burden of well... owning a pontiac

there are a lot of hilarious lines from this guy, but this one takes the cake.

newsflash: old people are picky, and GM mechanics have the resources to work on all GM's. buick mechanics (who are probably also GMC and maybe chevy mechanics) are more than capable of working on your pontiac.

newsflash #2: this is what blind brand hatred is like, guys. i can acknowledge how stupid the shit this guy is saying is. but it doesn't mean i have to like any GM product.

edit- also, i just have to say, what the hell is up with the love of the aura over the G6? i will at least acknowledge that G6 as a competent car, the aura OTOH is awful. it's like they put them together from a pick pile of reject parts. rock hard seats? check. squeaky interior parts? check. ugly? check. i mean, besides having a decent drivetrain (imo one of the bigger plusses with GM's), they seem pretty terrible to me. like an early korean attempt at luxury.

We've had these discussions before, you can't lump entire regions (American v. Japanese for example) as better/worse without looking at the details. Really you have to compare model by model, but even brand v. brand is going to make more sense.

It's pretty clear that overall, Dodge is down at the bottom of the heap. At the same time, I'd *MUCH* rather have the average new Ford or GM over a Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi has just been making junk for too long, just like Dodge. But, remember that detail above about actually needing model by model comparisons? Well, that's important, because Dodge trucks are actually very competitive. For example, I really like Nissan overall, but would rather get the new Ram over the outgoing Titan, it's just a better vehicle.

I am not going to agree to US vs. Japan making sense either way, too much has changed. 20 years ago it was no contest for the most part. Now the US makers have gotten extremely good with a lot of models, and the Japanese have slipped a lot overall with a lot of notable failures and diminished quality. Toyota stands out, I still respect them overall, but have you sat in a new Corolla or Camry? They're really cheaping out on the interiors, and the feature lists aren't that hot either. Nissan and Honda have them beat right now in most segments. Honda/Acura had a really costly period from the late 90s into early/mid 00s that had auto trannys dying constantly. Not a huge deal if you got it replaced with a redesigned unit under warranty/recall, but it's a bit of a black mark on the previously golden Honda reliability.

Bah, I could go on and on about it, but really just use some common sense and combine that with the ability to look at things with an independent mind. Fanboys and trolls for both sides are incredibly irritating and short-sighted, don't be part of that.

nope i speak from experience when i took my g/f old cavalier to get serviced at a GM mechanic shop and they took about 30 minutes finding the oil filter and another 15 minutes looking for an asian small enough to get his hands in their to take it off as the white guys were all like 300 lbs and their frists couldn't get in there
