nope i speak from experience when i took my g/f old cavalier to get serviced at a GM mechanic shop and they took about 30 minutes finding the oil filter and another 15 minutes looking for an asian small enough to get his hands in their to take it off as the white guys were all like 300 lbs and their frists couldn't get in there

Bullshit. Just pure and utter bullshit.

Why did it take 15 minutes to find an Asian? Weren't you around when they were working on the car?

Yet you couldn't change the oil yourself?

Why isn't this guy banned already? It's pretty obvious it's a troll account. Who else would come to a computer tech site looking for car buying advice with a handle like that?

Right, and at the Honda service center correct BMI (body mass index) is a prerequisite for employment consideration. Mods, ban this shitbag for us, please??

that's what HAPPENED..none of you were there so you DON'T KNOW

the fat ass tubs of lard at the GM dealership couldn't find the oil filter (I asked them why it was taking so long and that's what they said)

then they couldn't reach it with a rag and about 15 minutes later an asian came in there and pulled it right out for them because they were too damn fat. They even said "wong had to get it because i can't reach it haha". Not haha, lose some weight fat ass!

You wanna ask for a ban because i'm telling you this is how incompetent my GM dealership experience was? I"m not saying this can't happen anywhere but it's far less likely to happen at a place like VW where they service VW all day everyday than to take your nice new G8 to a place that never seen one before because they service SUVs all day and has no clue how to service it efficiently.

Certified or not they have to have experience with the make and model before they can do a good job servicing it otherwise you'll run into more problems (like that time my brother took his fucus to midas and he had to return 3 times to fix it because they had no experience working on them... this was back when they first came out) You want them to experiment on your car and bang it around, be my guest... it's not my $30 grand and I'm also very picky about who touches my cars.

and lulz at changing the oil myself.. i have better things to do than waste my time getting dirty to save a few measly bucks.

How do you not understand that your one experience does not make GM service techs any better or worse than Honda or Toyota or whatever Japanese car company you rub your nuts against?

You can find horror stories for any dealership under any brand. It's not like these guys suddenly turn to gold when they become Honda or Toyota techs. Everybody fucks up and everybody does dumb shit. It doesn't change the fact that "Japanese" car manufacturers have been losing ground to most "American" car manufacturers (quotes are simply because Toyota is basically as American as Ford at this point).

What is it about this Forum that it attracts all the wackos?

I don't need to name them, we all know who they are. Now we've got a new member to the club.

Well Midas is a joke, my brother went there with worn pads and came out $500 later, their more interested in selling you stuff you don't need than doing quality work. Any GM mechanic even if he hasn't seen a G8 before will benefit from the fact he has complete online access to all of GM's service literature on the spot. Nothing groundbreaking about G8 design anyway (car is still awesome though IMO) that would cause service problems. I change my own oil because it's a convenience to do it myself, my drain plug and filter are easy access and if I bring it to the dealer I have to wait 1-2 hours, I can do it myself in 15 min..

What, like troll the forums? It's a half-hour of your precious time.

They have figured it out. They're taping the name Caprice over G8

First off, Caprice is a name that died for a reason and should stay dead. Can't they think of anything new/hip/cool? Second, rumour is that they are lengthening the wheel base (for police purposes), which is going to turn it into a boat.

Are you not aware that most GM's are built on shared platforms?

For example, I could take an 07 Cobalt and part it if I ever needed repairs on my Ion and 90% of the parts would work just fine.

It's not rocket science to fix one GM car, especially if it shares a platform with many other GM cars.

Find a real mechanic.

hey so uh.. back on topic, PONTIACS for 40% OFF!!!

i'll buy one! But is this really a nationwide sale? I mean i would never pay regular price for a Pontiac, 40% off their MSRP sounds more true to what their real value is.

Nah, overpaying for Honda is way more your style!, and think, someone's gonna see you in that Pontiac eventually, oh the horror!!!..

theres no such thing as overpaying in an open economy. People will pay the market price, and sellers will sell at it. Its called the equilibrium. Ever wonder: if hondas were so overpriced, why are they the top seller in 4 major categories in the auto market?

yea actually i wouldn't drive that pontiac, wouldn't want to be seen in one. I'll prob sell it to some idiot down the block.

Seriously? No such thing as overpaying? Trollboat.

People overpay for the same reason people buy HDMI cables at Best Buy. People are stupid.

Every car manufacturer makes good and bad cars, you're an idiot if you don't do your research to find the best value. This country is full of people who just go buy something "cute" or that their "friend has".

I do cost comparisons on in class value, repair cost, reliability, and factor in incentives + personal taste to find a good car.

Can't believe someone would be a fanboy and potentially get themselves an inferior product just to get a car manufacturers badge on it instead of making the best choice based on available data.

So, are you also a house flipper?

Well at least you didn't buy a USED Honda, that's where things get really silly. If I were one to drive a car for 2-3 years and trade it in I would consider Honda as you will do much better on trade value but I keep a car for 10 yrs.+ so residual value wasn't a big concern for me.
